Abstract: Apparatus is provided for blending large batches of particulate polymers that are compositionally heterogeneous into batches that are compositionally uniform. The apparatus consists of a plurality of horizontally aligned cylindrical storage bins, a common feed line for feeding particulate polymer to each of the storage bins, and conveying means running under each of the storage bins to receive particulate polymer discharged from the bins. Each bin contains six or more vertically aligned partition walls that extend radially from the midpoint of the bin to the wall to divide the bin into at least six storage compartments of substantially equal volumetric capacity. The vertical partition walls differ in height in a regular descending order so that as material is charged to and fills one compartment, it overflows the shorter wall to fill the adjacent compartment. Upon being discharged from the bin, the contents of the several compartments of the bin are mixed to provide a more homogeneous batch of particles.
Abstract: Hot melt adhesive compositions are provided which contain (a) about 10-30 weight % of an alkenyl succinic anhydride, (b) about 20-60 weight % of an ethylene copolymer, and (c) about 10-40 weight % of a tackifying resin which is an aliphatic hydrocarbon resin.

Abstract: A process is disclosed for preparing a composite polymer film construction by a coextrusion process. An ethylene polymer or an isotactic propylene polymer is employed to form the surface layers and a blend of an ionomer resin and an alkenyl succinic anhydride is employed to form the intermediate layer.
Abstract: Coated articles are disclosed in which a sheet of paper, aluminum foil, ethylene polymer, or isotactic propylene polymer is coated with a blend of an ionomer resin and an alkenyl succinic anhydride.
Abstract: A process is disclosed for preparing stable aqueous dispersions of ionomer resins. Intimate fusion blends of 100 parts of an ionomer resin and about 5 to 900 parts of an alkenyl succinic anhydride (the alkenyl group containing about 16 to 52 carbon atoms) are heated and stirred with an aqueous alkaline medium.
Abstract: Disclosed are a method and apparatus for the in situ retorting of oil shale and purification products comprising establishing an underground in situ retort containing a mass of rubblized matter comprising oil shale and establishing a flame front within the rubblized matter. Oxygen containing gas comprising at least about 90 weight percent oxygen and diluent are passed into the retort to support combustion and form combustion gases suitable for the retorting of the rubblized mass and formation of off-gas comprising hydrogen, hydrocarbons, and contaminants. Off-gas comprising hydrogen, hydrocarbons, and contaminants is recovered from the retort and hydrocarbons and contaminants are substantially separated from at least a portion of the off-gas to produce a purified gas stream comprising hydrogen.
