Abstract: A combination bowl and internal rotatable tray is for a food processor having a base housing. The bowl, having an inner surface area, is removably secured to the base housing. A lid, having an inner surface area, is removably securable to the bowl to create a processing chamber between the inner surface areas of the bowl and lid in an assembled position. The tray, disposed within the processing chamber, is rotatable with respect to at least one of the lid and the bowl. The tray has a peripheral wall, a base wall, and a plurality of interior walls. The interior walls extend from the peripheral wall to create a plurality of cavities. At least a portion of the tray is accessible by a user through at least one of the lid and the bowl in order to manually rotate the tray with respect to the bowl and the lid.
Abstract: An improved assembly for use in an in-line starter valve. A flexible material system in the form of a flexible belt is used to translate motion from a manually operable wrench shaft to a piston rod in order to render an in-line starter valve to a closed, partially opened, or an extreme opened position. When the wrench shaft is manually rotated, tension is imparted on the flexible band which, in turn, translates tension to a piston rod which then travels longitudinally resulting in the opening or closing of the in-line starter valve. An index mark on a handle of the wrench shaft indicates the closed, partially opened, or extreme opened position of the in-line starter valve. The use of the flexible belt affords greater durability, less weight, and less costly production than the prior art assemblies.

Abstract: A multi-stage pressure/vacuum apparatus is disclosed for a bi-directional pneumatic delivery system or the like. The apparatus includes separated turbines or separated sets of turbines that are operated independently of each other to alternatively create pressure and vacuum conditions for an external system such as a pneumatic delivery network relying upon the inventive apparatus for pressure and/or vacuum generation. A common housing contains both turbine sets and defines a system of internal chambers and valve mechanisms between them. The valve mechanisms respond to internal pressures created within the housing by the turbines, and preferably also to gravity in order to control air flow patterns through the housing and between the housing and an external system. According to the present invention, the turbines of the two turbine sets can be operated concurrently at maximum capacity or separately if air power requirements are lesser.
Abstract: A rotating rectifier module for rectifying a multiphase alternating current signal provided by a multiphase alternating current power supply includes a housing, a circuit board, a plurality of input terminals, a first output terminal, a second output terminal, and a plurality of rectifier circuits. The housing has an outer surface, an inner surface defining a central opening for receipt of a rotatable shaft, and at least one cavity located between the outer and inner surfaces. The circuit board is mounted in a plane substantially normal to the outer surface. The input terminals are located on the circuit board. Each input terminal provides for electrical connection to one phase of the power supply. The first and second output terminals are located on the circuit board for electrical connection to a direct current load. The rectifier circuits are electrically connected in parallel between the first and second output terminals.

Abstract: An electrical power generator is characterized by a plurality of system parameters. The generator includes a controller for protecting the generator. The controller obtains data from which a present operating point of the generator and a power generating capacity of the generator can be determined. The controller further monitors data indicative of at least one system parameter as a function of time to detect an abnormality in a value of the system parameter. The controller then categorizes a type of event that caused the abnormality with respect to the data indicative of the system parameter as a function of time, the present operating point, and the power generating capacity. Finally, the controller provides a response for addressing the type of event that caused the abnormality.

Abstract: An electrical power generator includes a controller for making a full power capacity of the generator available for consumption by at least one intelligent load coupled to an output of the generator. The controller obtains data from which both a present output power of the generator and a power capacity of the generator can be determined. The controller then provides the intelligent load with data indicative of both the present output power and the power capacity of the generator for use by the load in controlling its power consumption.

Abstract: A probe head used in robotic assays for transferring liquid in miniscule quantities. The probe head includes an array of liquid transferring needles which move as a unit with the probe head. As the needles contact a surface, high spots or other irregularities on the surface are accommodated by needle compliance to assure all needles ultimately touch the surface. Touching contact assures reliable liquid transfer.
Abstract: A combined no-back and torque limiter device that automatically prevents back-drive and over-torque actuator conditions with a combination of two compression-type brakes that are selectively operated with a self-energised ball ramp set and torsional spring mechanism.
Abstract: A multi-function device for testing masks such as NBC masks used in civilian and military applications. In its preferred form, the device is self-contained and can be readily transported to field sites by one or two individuals. The device includes a protective storage and transport case. The case includes an upper portion and a lower portion. The upper portion of the case houses the power unit assembly and includes sufficient storage space to store such things as an aerosol generator reservoir, various headform accessories, a containment shroud, manuals (e.g. installation, operation and maintenance manuals) and nominal tools. The lower portion of the case houses the head assembly and controller unit which are preferably mounted on a cover or top panel. Underneath the top or cover panel of the lower portion of the case are stored the light scattering chamber, flow sensor, pressure transducer, circuit boards and valves.
Abstract: A diffuser is provided having a spaced apart shroud and backing plate. A diffuser vane is provided between the backing plate and shroud. The vane includes first and second sealing surfaces opposite from one another and adjacent to the backing plate and shroud. Leading and trailing surfaces are arranged opposite from one another and adjoin the first and second sealing surfaces. The first sealing surface includes a first protrusion extending therefrom approximate to the leading surface with a gap extending from the trailing surface to the first protrusion. The second surface includes a second protrusion extending therefrom proximate to the trailing surface with a second gap extending from the leading surface to the second protrusion. The surfaces provide four corners such that the protrusions are arranged on opposite corners from one another to create a pressure differential between the first and second sealing surfaces.

Abstract: A low flow rotary separator includes a housing that defines a separator chamber and a liquid/gas mixture inlet. A shaft driven by a motor includes a plurality of disks in frictional contact with the mixture to drive the liquid outward against an inner wall of the separator and displace gas to a central region about the shaft. The liquid exits through a liquid outlet valve into a high-pressure storage container. The pressure of the liquid is increased to allow flow into the high-pressure storage container by a pump driven by the shaft. A level control valve closes in response to a predetermined pressure differential between liquid in the feed line and liquid within the separator chamber to allow liquid flow through an outlet check valve.
