Abstract: The present invention provides an apparatus for dispensing a roll of material such as a pressure sensitive adhesive tape. The apparatus includes an enclosable housing having a roll holding piece, a cover piece, and a hinge assembly for joining the roll holding piece and cover piece. The hinge assembly permits opening of the housing while the cover piece and roll holding piece remain connected by the hinge assembly. The apparatus also includes an applicator located proximate to the dispensing end for applying a material to a substrate; a discharge opening for the material, and a cutting member located proximate to the dispensing end for cutting the material. The apparatus of the present invention is particularly useful as a hand-held tape dispenser.

Abstract: Blocked polyurethane prepolymers obtained by reacting at least one polyol, a first polyisocyanate comprising diphenylmethane diisocyanate, a second polyisocyanate having a viscosity at 25° C. of less than about 250 mPa·s, a phenol blocking agent, and an oxime blocking agent, wherein the weight ratio of second polyisocyanate:first polyisocyanate is not more than 0.65:1. The blocked polyurethane prepolymers are especially useful in formulating coating compositions additionally comprising at least one acrylic resin, at least one plasticizer, at least one filler, and optionally other ingredients and additives. A cured coating is obtained by applying a layer of the coating composition to a substrate surface and heating the coating composition layer.

Abstract: Described herein are devices for improving the rinse effect in machine dishwashers. In one embodiment, the device comprises a means of fixing an amount of liquor comprising rinse surfactant of the main wash cycle, wherein the amount of liquor is sufficient to bring about a rinse effect, whereby the liquor is transported into a subsequent rinse cycle. Also described are methods and kits for achieving a rinse effect in dishwashers.

Abstract: In the preparation of an improved adhesive composition, an epoxy-based prepolymer is obtained by the reaction of one or more epoxy resins with amino-terminated polyethers and/or carboxyl-terminated butadiene-nitrile rubbers. In one embodiment of the invention, both a solid epoxy resin and a liquid epoxy resin, each of which is a diglycidyl ether of a polyphenol such as bisphenol A, are used. The epoxy-based prepolymer is mixed with an acrylate-terminated urethane resin (preferably, one based on a polyol having a number average molecular weight of at least about 400) and a heat-activated latent curing agent to make an adhesive composition which can be pumpable at room temperature. Curable adhesives capable of expansion to about 100% with high impact resistance after curing may be obtained by inclusion of expanding agents such as expandable microspheres.

Abstract: A hydrophilizing agent comprising: (a) a hydrophilic polymer which is a copolymer of N-vinylacetamide with a polymerizable monomer having a COOX group (wherein X means hydrogen, an alkali metal atom, or an ammonium salt); (b) a water-soluble urethane resin; and (c) inorganic silica. It imparts hydrophilicity and corrosion resistance to the surface of a metallic material.
Abstract: The present invention relates to compositions and methods employing a first copolymer that is an acrylic copolymer or styrene/acrylic copolymer having a weight average molecular weight (Mw) of about 8,000 to about 14,000; a second copolymer that is an acrylic copolymer having a Mw of about 90,000 to about 130,000; a wax emulsion or dispersion, and a particulate additive. Optionally, the composition further comprises at least one of a rheological additive, ammonium hydroxide or a defoaming compound.
