    Abstract: A flame arrestor device capable of checking flashback when incorporated in a system utilizing one or more detonatable gases under pressure for controlled energy release purposes, the device being generally installed in series having one or more gas sources upstream while gas conducting means and ignition means are arranged downstream of a membrane barrier mounted and secured to a supporting means which is, in turn, mounted within an arrestor housing with provision for gaps of limited size on the upstream and downstream side of the membrane barrier to permit gas flow. The nozzle/valve device employs a design in which a nozzle throat blockage element can be moved by translational motion within the nozzle throat section of the device. The blockage element is designed so that in the closed position the nozzle throat has a minimum cross-sectional flow area and therefore the nozzle throat is never fully closed. The seals employed in the nozzle/valve device are isolated from contact with reaction products of the gas generator and effective use of minimum amounts of erosion resistant materials is achieved.

    Abstract: A process for blow molding completely finished hollow plastic containers of biaxially oriented material and having a finished neck. A dual-diameter blow pin is positioned between separable mold sections and is movable along its longitudinal axis. A crammer sleeve is reciprocably disposed about the blow pin, and gripping jaws are positioned to close around the blow pin. One end of a heated tubular parison is positioned over a larger-diameter portion of the blow pin, and the parison is longitudinally stretched, axially orienting the material and causing the parison to neck down onto a smaller-diameter portion of the blow pin. The mold sections are closed over the stretched parison, the blow pin is longitudinally inserted to size the inside diameter of the neck opening, the crammer sleeve is inserted to cram axially-oriented material into the neck finishing cavity of the mold and to finish form the neck opening, and the tail surplus material is severed.

    Abstract: Incorporation of an ester plasticizer having a solubility parameter from about 7.8 to about 10.2 (cal/cc).sup.1/2 increases the flexibility and impact strength of poly(dicyclopentadiene). In a preferred embodiment of the method for poly(dicyclopentadiene) synthesis, the plasticizer is incorporated into at least one or two parts of a metathesis-catalyst system: a catalyst/monomer solution or an activator/monomer solution. The two parts are then combined in the mixing head of a reaction injection molding machine and injected into a mold where the reaction mixture rapidly sets up into a thermoset polymer with greater flexibility and impact strength than is found in the corresponding unplasticized poly(dicyclopentadiene).
