  • Patent number: 5819024
Abstract: A fault analysis system searches for a cause of a fault on the basis of dump data output to a dump file at the time of occurrence of the fault. When the fault analysis system is started, a CPU resource condition corresponding to each task is read from the dump data and is set in a CPU resource condition holding unit. A resource condition switching control unit automatically switches the CPU resource condition for reference and displays a memory content for each task. Upon termination or interruption of the analysis, a resource condition file input/output control unit stores the CPU resource conditions each corresponding to the tasks already used for reference in a resource condition file, and upon re-starting of a search, it re-sets the CPU resource conditions read from the resource condition file in the CPU resource condition holding unit.

  • Patent number: 5805773
Abstract: A fuzzy reasoning system separately manages fuzzy rule groups, and fuzzy sets each including a plurality of membership functions. When executing fuzzy reasoning, the system selects one fuzzy rule group and at least one fuzzy set in conformity with a situation at that time and combines them. Thereafter, it executes the reasoning for fact information. This arrangement facilitates the building of a flexible fuzzy reasoning system which can confirm to varying situations. In another aspect, the separate management of the fuzzy rule groups and the fuzzy sets allows the selection of only any desired membership function of the fuzzy set to obtain a grade of membership based on the fact information.

  • Patent number: 5768439
Abstract: Images on a plurality of adjacent maps are accurately connected without performing positional displacement at their connecting boundaries, thereby obtaining a single seamless image. A plurality of corresponding points to be connected are specified on adjacent images. The amount of movement for each picture element on the image is calculated in order to make the specified corresponding points coincide. All of the picture elements in the image which are to coincide are moved according to the results of the calculations.

  • Patent number: 5765005
Abstract: With employment of a computer, table format data is arranged to produce a desirable form in accordance with the following sequential operation. The designated data table is displayed on a relational table display window, and a base record is set with respect to the relational table on this window. An arranging display window is produced, and an allocation and an initialization of a memory region are performed. A basic portion of the form is created by arranging the data from the relational data to the arranging display window. Furthermore, repeating data among the arranged data is designated, and then a repeating parameter for designating the sort of repeating process and also the display position during the repeating representation are inputted, and thereafter the repeating process is applied to the designated data based upon these parameter and display position, whereby a form is created.

  • Patent number: 5761658
Abstract: An area in a page for a tuple-oriented file system is exclusively controlled such that a tuple is added to, deleted from or updated in a page including a tuple area in use, a vacant area having a deleted tuple and an unoccupied area. In the case where a transaction is active for increasing the total size of the vacant area in a given page, the particular vacant area is locked to prevent another active parallel transaction from using the same vacant area. During the time when the transaction for increasing the total size of the vacant area remains active, other transactions can add a tuple to the unoccupied area or update a tuple in use in the same page to the extent that the particular page is not compacted. The transaction for increasing the total size of the vacant area can perform a special compaction for collecting a plurality of discrete vacant areas into a continuous vacant area without increasing the unoccupied area in the page. The roll back operation can thus be executed securely.

  • Patent number: 5758356
Abstract: A database management system for accessing the same B-tree index by a plurality of transactions. When a transaction is intercepted at the intermediate stage of an index structure modification process executed by an index structure modification execution unit, the logs of the index structure modification operation at rollback is analyzed by an index structure modification operation log analysis unit. Then, an incomplete index structure change process is completed by an uncompleted index structure modification operation completion and control unit, i.e., the roll-forward operation is performed. In this manner, it is possible to provide an efficient access to the B-tree index wherein even if the tree structure modification operation by one transaction is intercepted at its intermediate stage, another transaction is allowed to access the B-tree index thereafter.

  • Patent number: 5754829
Abstract: A parallel computer system in which a plurality of host computers are connected in a network and a plurality of servers having different attributes are allocated to the plurality of host computers. One of the plurality of host computers is previously designated as a manager node. Each of the host computers judges whether or not the own host computer is the manager node when started. The host computer decided as the manager node issues through the network to the other host computers a request demanding report of information on respective resources possessed by the other host computers on a broadcast transmission basis. In response to the broadcast transmission, the other host computers transmit information on their own resources through said network to said manager node.

  • Patent number: 5729736
Abstract: A method and a system for analyzing the operation of a parallel data system are disclosed. The history information of the access executed by a specific processor that has received a request for access to a plurality of data bases connected to a plurality of processors, the ID of the specific processor and the accessed data amount are collected and stored in a memory. The history information is compared with the time assumed from a predetermined time specified for the access to a unit amount of data in data bases, deciding whether the former is reasonable or longer than the latter. The transfer history information for the processor that has transferred an access request to the specific processor executing the access is compared with a predetermined transfer time specified for a unit amount of data, deciding whether the transfer time between the two processors is longer than an assumed transfer time.

  • Patent number: 5724500
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of backup sampling of multiwritten storage volumes, by which the backup sampling time is remarkably reduced by taking advantage that the same storage region exists in a plurality of volumes. Data from storage regions differing with respect to respective storage volumes is inputted concurrently and parallel, and the data is outputted to the output volumes according to the following: (a) data are output to the output volumes in the order of these storage regions; (b) data with information indicative of the order of these storage regions are output to the output volumes in the order of the storage regions upon completion of its data input; and (c) data from respective storage regions are output to different corresponding output volumes concurrently and parallel.

  • Patent number: 5717846
Abstract: The positions of lines connecting nodes are selected such that the lines do not overlap nodes other than those which they are connecting. This is based on the position information of nodes within the network diagram, and connection information indicating which nodes are connected by the node-connecting lines. Node-connecting lines which are to be connected are generated in these selected positions, using straight lines or curved lines.

  • Patent number: 5625801
Abstract: A method and apparatus for producing standardized software specifications and software products involves analyzing an existing software product subject to reuse to produce analysis information. From this analysis information, groups of data mutually having the same contents, and identified as the same meaning data, are detected. Each of the groups is then assigned a standard data name and standard attributes, thus producing standard information. Names of data belonging to the groups of same meaning data in the analysis information are converted into the corresponding standard data names and standard attributes based on the standard information, to produce standard software specifications. A standardized software product is similarly produced based on the standard information.
