  • Patent number: 6589740
Abstract: The present invention detects and quantities only specific hybridization bindings. A biochip 10 which is spotted with a plurality of probe biopolymers is accommodated in a container 20 into which a washing solution is supplied from a liquid supplying unit 23. A heat block 31 controls the temperature of the biochip according to a predetermined time pattern. A pickup unit 55 picks up an image of the spot surface of the biochip at predetermined pickup intervals. The plurality of images picked up with the pickup unit are stored in a computer 40. By analyzing the images for individual spots, hybridization can be detected with high reliability for every spots without being influenced by optimal hybridization temperatures which differ depending upon the types of probes on the spots.

  • Patent number: 6584457
Abstract: A parallel data base management system with a data base divided into a plurality of external memory units is disclosed. A control CPU, upon receipt of a request for access to the data base, decides whether the access request is for storing or searching a record. For a record storage request, the control CPU determines an external memory unit to store the record using a hash function. In the case of a record search request, on the other hand, all the external memory units are searched in parallel without using the hash function thereby to obtain the desired record. The hash function is altered upon addition of an external memory unit.

  • Patent number: 6453243
Abstract: A method for displaying results of hybridization experiments using a biochip is provided. In the method, a plurality of control spots spotted in each of a plurality of sections defined on a biochip is measured. The measured data are plotted on a graph for each section, and all of the graphs are simultaneously displayed on a single screen in the same arrangement as that of the sections on the biochip. By simultaneously displaying all of the graphs on a single screen, it is possible to skim the whole biochip to find experimental errors. Also, experimental errors can be quantified with respect to the dispersion of control data on the basis of the linearity of the data points and slope angles defined for each data points on a graph.

  • Patent number: 6427145
Abstract: A database processing system for analyzing a query issued to a database to generate a corresponding execution procedure for performing database processing in accordance therewith. A plurality of columns for storing data each constituted by a set of instances and conditions concerning the instances constituting the plurality of columns are entered. A query is inputted which contains a predicate for evaluating whether a set of instances which meet the designated conditions and which can be identified with the same subscript exists among the sets of instances stored in the plurality of columns. In response to the query, a decision is made as to whether or not an index has been generated for one or plural columns specified in the query predicate. When the index is generated, the index is accessed to acquire an identifier of table data which is “true” for a predicate.
