Abstract: Filaments are produced from polymers having an inherent viscosity of at least 0.7 measured in concentrated sulfuric acid and containing in the polmer chain at least 50 percent of the repeating units. ##STR1## by melting the polymer and heating the melt to a temperature of from about 20.degree. C. to about 80.degree. C. above the melting point of the polymer, passing the melt through a filter pack having a filtering area of at least about 8 in.sup.2 and a total volume of at least about 1.2 in.sup.3 per pound of polymer extruded per hour, and containing inert, irregularly shaped particles having a mesh size of about 25 to 140 to provide a pressure drop at least about 800 psig., and extruding the melt through spinning openings of desired shape to form filaments. The process is capable of producing fibers and yarns having a dpf of about 15 to 100, a tenacity of about 1 to 2 grams per denier, an elongation at break of about 50 to 160 percent and a modulus of about 20 to 30 grams per denier.
Abstract: A filter apparatus is provided comprising a number of cylindrical candle filters, each of which contains a displacement body forming a space of uniform width between itself and the candle filter. The filter material of the candle filter is supported by a cylindrical supporting body which has passages through which a plastic melt to be filtered can flow. A number of filter apparatuses can be arranged on concentric circles on a cylindrical filter housing so as to minimize the dwelling time of the plastic melt flow through the filters and to minimize the pressure loss over the length of the filters.
Abstract: A process for the production of a molding from at least one preform, in which process the preform, which has been heated to 330.degree. to 400.degree. C., is pressed by means of a pressure difference which increases slowly during the shaping into or onto a rigid mold heated to about the same temperature, and is then cooled while the pressure difference is maintained and is released from the mold. During the shaping and cooling, the edges of the preform are secured in their original position. The process makes it possible to produce moldings which have a thin wall thickness and a good surface and which exhibit a residual shrinkage which is sufficiently small for most applications.

This compound of the formula I, or an ester at the 2-carboxy group or at the 8-hydroxy group or both or a salt thereof is produced by reacting a compound of formula II or of formula IX ##STR2## in which R represents a hydrogen atom or a carboxy protecting group, R.sup.3 represents an activated carboxylic acid group, R.sup.4 represents an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, or a phenyl group which may be unsubstituted or substituted, R.sup.15 represents a phenyl group or an alkyl group having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms, and X represents an oxygen or sulphur with an amine of the formula III R.sup.1 NH.sub.

Abstract: Stereoblock polymers of 1-olefins having a broad uni-, bi-, tri- or multimodal molecular weight distribution are obtained when a catalyst which comprises a chiral metallocene containing bridges and an alumoxane is used for the polymerization of the 1-olefins. Abstract: The cDNA of a new proteinase inhibitor was isolated from a cDNA library of human liver biopsy material using a synthetic Oligonucleotide probe. The cDNA can be expressed by introduction of the cDNA to a microbial host on a DNA vector. Analogs of known proteinase inhibitors can be producing by alteration of the cDNA by substituting codons in the active center of the new proteinase inhibitor.
Abstract: Curing component (A) based on polyisocyanates for binders (B) which contain groups containing active hydrogen, wherein the curing component (A) is a product of the reaction of (a1) polyisocyanates with (a2) .alpha.-hydroxyalkylpyridines.Mixtures of (A) and (B), and also, if appropriate, diluents (C) and additives (D), are stable on storage and give, even at temperatures of 120.degree.-140.degree. C., curing products which are sufficiently solvent-stable. They are suitable, in particular, for surface-coating preparations.

Abstract: The invention relates to a process for the preparation of N-phosphonomethylglycine of the formula I ##STR1## wherein a compound of the formula II or salts and esters thereof ##STR2## in which R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 denote hydroxyl or a hydrolyzable group and R.sub.3 denotes aryl, is reacted in a closed reaction vessel in the presence of a dehydrogenation catalyst and a hydrogenation catalyst with an alkali metal hydroxide or alkaline earth metal hydroxide in water as the solvent and, when the reaction has ended, a mineral acid is added to liberate N-phosponomethylglycine from its salt.
Abstract: In the spray head for the administration of a multi-component material by means of gas, a gas channel (2) with gas connection (3) is provided, which channel is divided by a separating web (4) into a plurality of channels (2a2b) running parallel to the separating web. Into these channels there open out boreholes (5, 5a) for receiving cannulas. The open ends of the boreholes (5, 5a) go into grooves (7, 7a) which serve for guiding the cannulas (6, 6a). The grooves are arranged parallel to the gas channel (2). The separating web (4) protrudes beyond the channel ends (9, 9a).
Abstract: A false twisted bulky synthetic multifilament yarn of a uniform polymer consisting of at least two filament bundles of different filament deniers, with the filaments in each of said bundles having the same denier per filament. The smaller denier per filament is less than 1 dtex, and the total denier of the texturized yarn is in excess of 100 times the finer filament denier. For the production of such a multifilament yarn, the draw ratios of both filament bundles are chosen such that the difference between both draw ratios is smaller than 0.1, and both bundles are drawtexturized simultaneously at a draw ratio corresponding to the draw ratio of the filament bundle having the coarser denier per filament. Preferred end uses of the yarn are water-repellent fabrics, dust proof fabrics, and the conductive component of sports wear.
Abstract: A process for the single-stage preparation of glycosyl fluorides by dissolving saccharides in liquid hydrogen fluoride and evaporating the hydrogen fluoride, wherein the resulting glycosyl fluoride is isolated in such a way that, when the evaporation of the hydrogen fluoride is started at a relatively high temperature, in general at -20.degree. to +20.degree. C., the evaporation is effected at a high evaporation rate or, when a low evaporation rate is used at the start of the evaporation, a sufficiently low temperature is set, in general -80.degree. C. to -30.degree. C.

Such copolyamides can be produced from the corresponding diamines and dicarbonyl dichlorides in aprotic solvents in the presence or absence of metal halides of the first or second group of the periodic table. The spinning solutions obtainable therein can be processed in conventional manner into the claimed shaped structures.

These compounds are useful as antidepressants and analgesics.Various other compounds which are useful as intermediates for preparing the aforementioned compounds and methods for preparing same are also described.
