Abstract: This invention relates to a process for the production of high strength polybenzimidazole filaments and molded products made from such filaments. The filaments produced by this process contain from about 10 to about 50 percent by weight residual solvent and can be heated at a temperature of about 350.degree. C. to about 600.degree. C. to produce three-dimensional foamed articles.

Abstract: This invention relates to negative photosensitized sheet constructions which, upon exposure to an actinic radiation source through a screened image, can accurately reproduce said image. Abstract: A novel heat-curable acrylic-terminated monomer is provided which exhibits an optically anisotropic melt phase at a temperature which enables it to undergo melt processing in the formation of molded articles, etc. Subsequent to melt processing articles prepared from the monomer are capable of being cured to produce a thermoset self-reinforced composite which is soft and flexible relative to prior art monomers. Abstract: A process for isolating alkanesulfonates having a low alkali metal sulfate content and sulfuric acid from paraffin-sulfoxidation reaction mixtures with the aid of alcohols, the reaction mixture, freed from sulfur dioxide, being mixed in a sequence of five mixer/settler vessels with a C.sub.4 -C.sub.8 -alcohol and the amount of alkali metal hydroxide which is necessary for neutralization. The process is designed so that no alkali metal sulfate, but instead only sulfuric acid, is produced as a byproduct. Fewer alkali metal ions are thereby lost from the system, and the consumption of alkali metal hydroxide for neutralization is accordingly reduced.
