Abstract: Disclosed are various embodiments for tracking, in at least one computing device, a presentation of a plurality of items for a user, each item being associated with at least one respective category of a plurality of categories, and determining a user histogram that is customized for a user. A visual symbol may be generated based at least upon the user histogram for each category, each visual symbol comprising a visual characteristic for associating the visual symbol to the category and a graphical dimension of the visual symbol, wherein the graphical dimension correlates with the respective degree of interest associated with the category. Each visual symbol may be appended to one another to form a graphic identifier and a user interface encoded for rendering, where the user interface comprises the graphic identifier.

Abstract: Disclosed are various embodiments for associating and synchronizing extrinsic data with video content at particular points of time in the video content. In one embodiment, a user interface is rendered that facilitates an entry of a corresponding score for at least one of a plurality of extrinsic data items that are associated with a video content feature that is currently being presented to a first user. The corresponding score of a particular extrinsic data item of the plurality of extrinsic data items is received through the user interface. A time in the video content feature that is currently being presented to the first user is determined. The particular extrinsic data item is rendered on an electronic display at the time during another presentation of the video content feature to a second user based at least in part on the corresponding score.

Abstract: Disclosed are various embodiments that facilitate network page generation based on resource demands. A request for a network page is obtained at a server from a client. When the network page is to be generated by the client, network page generation code for generating the network page is sent to the client in response to the request and in place of the network page. The network page generation code includes code that obtains multiple data elements from the server. The network page generation code also includes code that generates a network page. The data elements are included within the network page. When the network page is to be locally generated, if the network page is static, loaded the network page from a data store and send to the client. If the network page is not static, generate the network page server-side, and send to the client.

Abstract: Disclosed are various embodiments for a request monitoring application. Content identifiers are generated according to a known sequence or pattern. Requests for invalid content identifiers are logged. Response behavior to subsequent requests is modified when a number of requests from a source having invalid content identifiers meets a threshold.

Abstract: Techniques are described for providing functionality to allow a viewer of a television show to watch a “previously on” segment of an episode of the television show and be able to watch the scenes from prior episodes referenced in the “previously on” segment.

Abstract: Disclosed are various embodiments relating to the identification of events that occur within a media item. A plurality of messages are received from client devices, wherein each of the messages comprises a timestamp indicating a time relative to a media item. The existence of an event in the media item is determined based at least in part on a clustering of at least a subset of the messages received. Points are awarded to a subset of users based at least in part upon the timestamp and the clustering of messages received.

Abstract: Disclosed are various embodiments for translation of destination identifiers. In one embodiment, a destination identifier applied to a shipment is scanned. The destination identifier is translated to a first shipping address based at least in part on a mapping of destination identifiers to shipping addresses. The shipment is routed for delivery to the first shipping address. The destination identifier is then translated to a second shipping address based at least in part on the mapping. The shipment is then rerouted to the second shipping address.

Abstract: Age data is calculated and stored that describes the age of one or more elements in a Web page, such as images or hyperlinks. The age data may be utilized to modify the Web page such that the age of each Web page element is visually presented when the Web page is rendered. For example, the Web page may be configured such that a region is overlaid upon each element that is colored or shaded based upon the age of the element. Colored or shaded borders might also be applied to the Web page elements that indicate the age of each Web page element. The age data might also be utilized to modify the Web page such that the frequency at which each page element has been changed will be visually presented when the Web page is rendered. The age data might also be correlated to other Web page statistics.

Abstract: Disclosed are various embodiments for determining the effects of modifying a network page based at least upon the implicit behaviors of users. An executable network page is generated to record the implicit behaviors of users. A position density map is then generated from the recorded implicit behavior to identify the content on the network page that has a high or low level of user interaction. The position density map is then analyzed to determine if the content on the network page needs to be revised. Subsequent A/B tests relating to revisions made to the network page may be run to ascertain the effect of changing the network page using the position density map.

Abstract: Disclosed are various embodiments for translation of destination identifiers. In one embodiment, an input including a destination identifier is received. For example, the destination identifier may be affixed to the exterior of a shipment and scanned. The destination identifier is translated into a geographic address based at least in part on a stored mapping. The geographic address is then rendered in a user interface.

In one embodiment, the method includes storing information for a plurality of third party content elements that were selected by a user for display with a page of content, in response to a user request corresponding to a page associated with one of the plurality of third party content elements specified by the stored information, rendering for display on the page a third party content module associated with the third party content element, and, in response to a user modification of the third party content module, storing information corresponding to the user modification. The modified content module is rendered for display on a page of content according to the stored information. The user has the ability to customize and control the parameters of content modules selected by the user to be rendered on the accessed page.

Abstract: Disclosed are various embodiments for forming relationships among items to enhance user experiences in navigating a content database. A user may initiate a request to associate a keyword or label with an item. The keyword may be associated with the user to form a user-keyword association and may be associated with the item to form an item-keyword association. If the item-keyword association meets a predefined threshold, the keyword may be surfaced as a community keyword corresponding to the item.

Abstract: Disclosed are various embodiments for associating and synchronizing extrinsic data with video content at particular points of time in the video content. A user interface is rendered that facilitates a selection from extrinsic data items that are associated with a video content feature that is currently being presented to a user. A user selection of a particular extrinsic data item is received through the user interface, and a time in the video content feature is determined corresponding to the user selection. An association is then generated between the particular extrinsic data item and the time in the video content feature.

Abstract: An electronic device can utilize image information to determine a proper orientation with which to render content. In some embodiments, a camera of a computing device can capture one or more images to attempt to determine a relative location (or direction) of a user by identifying a feature of a user or by using objects in the image to determine a likely direction of a user. Based at least in part on this information, as well as information from position and motion sensors of the device in some embodiments, a device can determine a relative position of a user, and can cause content to be rendered by the device with an orientation that is appropriate for that position, where the orientation can also depend upon the type of content or other such factors. Such an approach can determine proper orientations in situations where conventional sensor-based approaches are not sufficient.

Abstract: Disclosed are various embodiments for presenting collections of items related to subjects in a performance to viewers. The collections are assumed to be identified prior to the performance by individuals with knowledge of subjects expected to appear in the performance. The subject's appearance may be detected based on a user input indicating the appearance or by a subject recognition algorithm. The collections may be presented to a customer in a display also rendering the performance or in a separate display. The customer may select the collections and/or items therein for performing an action with the item, such as, for example purchasing the item.
