Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for determining the likelihood of a user's attendance at an event. For example, the systems and methods can be used to determine that a particular user is attending, is planning to attend, has already attended, or is about to attend a particular event, such as a movie, concert, tour, etc. Further, upon determining that a user is attending, has already attended, or is about to attend an event, systems and methods can be used to serve to a device, associated with the user, content that is related to the event. For example, the content may include invites that invite the user to provide a review of the event and to join a discussion about the event. Further, for example, the content may include links to websites that provide reviews and other information about the event, provide information about related events, or that offer related items for sale.

Abstract: Technologies are described herein for collecting client-side performance metrics and latencies. A web page received by a web browser application executing on a user computing device includes markup or scripting code that instructs the browser to collect performance measures during the rendering of the content of the web page. The performance measures may include operation timings that measure the time it takes for a particular operation to complete during the rendering of the content and/or event counters that count the number of times that a specific event occurs during the rendering of the content. The web browser application sends an event report containing the collected performance measures to a reporting module executing on a server computer. The reporting module receives the event report, validates the content of the event report, and adds the event report to a database or other data storage system.

Abstract: Disclosed are various embodiments for generating a content item metric or a performer metric. The metric can assess a lasting value of a content item or performer by identifying a distribution of a population of users expressing an interest in the content item or performer according to a demographic attribute, such as age.

Abstract: Disclosed are various embodiments for tracking, in at least one computing device, a presentation of a plurality of items for a user, each item being associated with at least one respective category of a plurality of categories, and determining a user histogram that is customized for a user. A visual symbol may be generated based at least upon the user histogram for each category, each visual symbol comprising a visual characteristic for associating the visual symbol to the category and a graphical dimension of the visual symbol, wherein the graphical dimension correlates with the respective degree of interest associated with the category. Each visual symbol may be appended to one another to form a graphic identifier and a user interface encoded for rendering, where the user interface comprises the graphic identifier.

Abstract: This disclosure is directed to techniques and systems to verify an identity of an applicant to enable the applicant to claim accounts, domain names, electronic messaging addresses, and/or other computing resources in a computing environment. The techniques may use a voucher system that relies on approvals (or vouchers) from members that each has an associated reputation score. The members may vouch for an applicant that submits a request to claim a portion of content. The portion of content may have an associated verification requirement, which may include a predetermined number of vouchers from members where the reputation scores of the members reach or exceed a threshold score.

Abstract: Disclosed are various embodiments for associating and synchronizing extrinsic data with video content at particular points of time in the video content. A user interface is rendered that facilitates a selection from extrinsic data items that are associated with a video content feature that is currently being presented to a user. A user selection of a particular extrinsic data item is received through the user interface, and a time in the video content feature is determined corresponding to the user selection. An association is then generated between the particular extrinsic data item and the time in the video content feature.

Abstract: Supplemental content such as electronic advertisements may be previewed in situ. That is, supplemental content may be previewed in a context of a live and/or production environment along with the primary content available in that environment. In particular, electronic advertising that is still under development, that still requires testing and/or quality control, and/or electronic advertising that is unpublished may be incorporated into electronic pages by live and/or production electronic page generation computer systems. Furthermore, electronic advertising may be previewed in situ in a controlled and/or restricted manner.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for identifying an individual(s) whose face closely resembles a face that is ideal for a role, or who has a facial feature or combination of facial features that closely resembles a facial feature or combination of facial features that is ideal for the role, and who—in addition to having an ideal face, facial feature, or combination of facial features—possesses at least one trait or qualification that is preferable for the role. For example, the systems and methods can be used to identify at least one individual, such as an actor or model, whose face or facial features closely resembles a face or facial features that is ideal for a role, such as a role in a recorded or live performance, a photo shoot, or a fashion show, and who possesses the at least one trait or qualification, such as gender, height, weight, ability to speak a particular language, star power, or a guild affiliation, that is preferable for the role.

Abstract: Systems and methods are presented for searching a dynamic data source using a static search engine. In one embodiment, the method includes: determining that a search request for data includes at least one attribute associated with dynamic data, retrieving dynamic data associated with the at least one attribute and corresponding to the search request, combining the retrieved dynamic data with static data that corresponds to the search request, and returning the combined data in response to the search request. The dynamic data may be located separately from the static data, for example, at a remote storage and may be searched in parallel with the static data if necessary. The retrieved dynamic data may be combined with the static data and returned to the user.

For example, the Web page may be configured such that a region is overlaid upon each element that is colored or shaded based upon the age of the element. Colored or shaded borders might also be applied to the Web page elements that indicate the age of each Web page element. The age data might also be utilized to modify the Web page such that the frequency at which each page element has been changed will be visually presented when the Web page is rendered. The age data might also be correlated to other Web page statistics.

Abstract: Disclosed are various embodiments for enhancing video content with extrinsic data. A video content feature is rendered on a display. A user interface is rendered on top of the video content feature on the display. The user interface presents cast member images, each of which corresponds to a cast member in the video content feature. A selection of a cast member image is obtained through the user interface. The user interface is updated to present additional information regarding the respective cast member corresponding to the selected image.

Content programs are determined based at least in part on a prior selection of one or more of the content programs from a content catalog by a user. Content availability data is obtained from multiple content providers. Availabilities of each content program are determined based at least in part on the content availability data. A user interface is generated that presents the respective availabilities of each of the content programs through the corresponding interfaces of some or all of the content providers.

Abstract: Various embodiments enable finding collaborations in a network. One embodiment obtains collaboration data for a plurality of nodes, receives a request to locate at least one collaboration for a user, generates a search tree starting by determining a source node of the collaboration data, the search tree including at least two levels, and expanding the search tree until at least one target node is located that corresponds to a solution for the request, optimizes the search tree to attempt to reduce the number of solutions, generates an adjacency list of adjacent nodes in the optimized search tree, searches the adjacency list to locate at least one shortest path to the target node, and generates a list of collaboration data that is associated with the at least one shortest path from the source node to the target node.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for fine level access control over message content in an electronic messaging system. Access criteria associated with the message content define requirements that a user must satisfy in order to perform specified actions on message content. The user's complete profile is examined at run time and compared to access criteria to make a real time decision about the level of access that a user should have to message content. Depending on the access criteria associated with content, stronger authentication or weaker authentication of the user profile information may be performed on the user profile to determine the level of access that should be granted to the user.

Abstract: Techniques, including systems and methods, for providing content utilize templates. As part of providing content to clients, templates and arguments for the templates are provided to clients. The clients themselves receive the templates and arguments for the templates and instantiate the templates. Templates and arguments for templates may each be cached by clients and/or servers for efficient future use.
