Abstract: A charger device for use with a handheld communication device, the charger device comprises a cable, a connector element and a support element affixed to the connector element. The connector element includes a connector for engagement with a port of the handheld communication device. The support element is configured to support the handheld communication device in either one of a portrait orientation and a landscape orientation, when the connector is engaged with the port of the handheld communication device.
Abstract: A mobile communication device is capable of communicating with a battery authorization server. Determining an authorization status of a smart battery currently powering the mobile communication device involves an initial authorization process and a subsequent authorization process. The initial authorization process is conducted between the mobile communication device and the smart battery. If the initial authorization process is successful, it is followed by a subsequent authorization process between the mobile communication device and the battery authorization server.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for use in communicating messages to multiple recipients are described. A wireless device receives a first input request for creating a new message, and also receives one or more second input requests for selecting a plurality of recipient identifiers for the new message. The wireless device also receives a third input request which indicates whether or not the message is for a group conversation. When the third input request indicates group conversation, the wireless device formats the recipient identifiers in first header fields (e.g., CC header fields) of an MMS message. When the third input request indicates no group conversation, the wireless device alternatively formats the recipient identifiers in second header fields (e.g., BCC header fields) of the MMS message. The MMS message is then transmitted to the recipient identifiers via a wireless network. Recipient devices may process the message as group or non-group (e.g.

Abstract: A method of controlling an electronic device having a touch-sensitive display includes determining a first value representative of force applied by an actuator to a touch-sensitive input device of an electronic device, controlling the actuator to modulate the force on the touch-sensitive input device for providing tactile feedback, determining a second value representative of force applied by the actuator to the touch-sensitive input device, and adjusting control of the actuator to adjust a subsequent force applied by the actuator based on a difference between the first value and the second value.

Abstract: A method in a network access equipment is provided. The method includes defining a burst duration for sending a plurality of reference signals. The method further includes determining an interval between ones of the plurality of reference signals in the burst duration. The method further includes defining a burst period for sending a plurality of reference signal bursts. The method further includes sending a reference signal instruction message containing an activation message and at least one of the burst duration, the interval, and the burst period.

Abstract: An Access Point (AP) advertises the availability of notifications, and this advertisement may be received and interpreted by stations (STAs), both by associated STAs and by non-associated STAs. Upon being informed of the availability of the notification message, a STA may take action in order to receive the notification message from the AP. Alternatively, the STA may be able to identify the notification message by analyzing the advertisement. If the contents of the notification message comprise a control message, the STA may act on the control message in a way that influences the STA's behavior. If the contents of the notification message indicate restrictions imposed by the AP, the STA may determine, in view of the restrictions, not to attempt association with the AP.

Abstract: A pinging electronic device, a pingable electronic device and a network for the devices are disclosed. The ping electronic devices comprising a ping function and a transmitter wherein the ping function is adapted to generate and the transmitter is adapted to transmit over an ad hoc wireless network at least one associated ping control message to at least one pingable electronic device paired to the pinging electronic device for actuation of at least one indicator element of the at least one pingable electronic device.
Abstract: A method includes detecting a touch on a touch-sensitive display, determining when a touch value associated with the touch meets a first touch threshold, determining a first period of time between detecting the touch and when the touch value meets the first touch threshold, and providing a first tactile feedback when the first period of time is meets a first time threshold.

Abstract: In accordance with the teachings described herein, systems and methods are provided for triggering a provisioning event in a service provider using a provisioning request message generated by an external system. A provisioning system may be used to receive the provisioning request message from the external system and transmit information in the provisioning request message to the service provider to trigger the provisioning event. The provisioning request message may have a data structure that includes a header section and a body section. The body section may contain a provisioning entity section that includes information identifying an entity to which the provisioning event pertains, wherein the provisioning entity section includes one or more attributes defined by the external system.
Abstract: There is disclosed a system and method of making an electronic payment from a wireless mobile device. In an embodiment, the method comprises: providing an electronic wallet, the electronic wallet having a persistent store for storing data for one or more payment cards and a wallet security module configured to verify authorized access to the electronic wallet; and permitting access to the data for one or more payment cards stored in the electronic wallet upon verification of authorized access by the wallet security module. In an embodiment, the wallet security module is configured to store one or more of a password and biometric data, and the method further comprises: comparing any subsequently input password or biometric data to a password or biometric data previously supplied by the authorized user and stored in the wallet security module; and if the comparison matches or is within an acceptable range, then permitting access to the data for one or more payment cards stored in the electronic wallet.
Abstract: A mobile communication device assists in a handover procedure between a first base station and a second base station using reliable and efficient techniques. The mobile device has a wireless transceiver and one or more processors coupled to the wireless transceiver. In one illustrative example, the one or more processors of the mobile device are operative to maintain a voice or data call over a traffic channel with use of the wireless transceiver; cause handover information of the handover procedure to be transmitted over a first control channel (e.g. SACCH) with use of the wireless transceiver during the voice or data call; and cause the same handover information of the handover procedure to be transmitted over a second control channel (e.g. FACCH) during the voice or data call.
