Abstract: Described are methods and compositions for the detection of target genes. The inventors have developed a synthetic nucleic acid sensor-effector gene circuit. In cells without a target gene, the circuit suppresses e.g., effector production, but in the presence of the target gene the suppression is subject to competition, such that the synthetic sensor is de-repressed and permits expression of the effector gene. The methods and compositions described further permit the selective expression of an effector gene in those cells expressing the target gene. In this manner, cells expressing a target gene can be selectively targeted for treatment or elimination. In certain aspects, the methods and compositions described permit the selective expression of an agent such as a therapeutic gene product, in a specifically targeted population of cells in an organism.

Abstract: A method for producing a crystalline silicoaluminophosphate (SAPO) membrane in which a porous support is contacted with SAPO seed crystals to form a SAPO seeded porous support. The SAPO seeded porous support is filled with an aqueous SAPO synthesis gel including a mixture of sources of aluminum, phosphorus, silicon, oxygen, water, and a templating agent, forming a gel-filled porous structure which is then heated to form a SAPO layer of SAPO crystals on a surface of and/or within pores of the porous support. The SAPO layer is calcined, thereby removing the templating agent and forming a supported porous SAPO membrane layer, which is then subjected to a pore size reduction post-synthesis treatment process, producing a reduced pore size supported porous SAPO membrane layer having an average pore size of less than about 0.38 nm.

Abstract: A mobile communication method includes the following steps: several first base stations and at least one second base station are provided. Wherein, each of the first base stations can cover a smaller area than the second base station can. A registration signal is received from a mobile communication device. If the registration signal is received through one of the first base stations, service is provided to the mobile communication device through the first base station receiving the registration signal, and a first base station list, which includes information of the first base stations, is transmitted to the mobile communication device. The mobile communication device measures signal strength of the first base stations according to the first base station list. The mobile communication device transmits another registration signal to the first base station with the strongest measured signal strength.
Abstract: A driving method for a LED display panel time-anneals threshold voltage shifting of a driving transistor. The driving transistor has a gate terminal coupled to a data input terminal, a source terminal coupled to a cathode via a LED, and a drain terminal coupled to a system voltage. The method includes inserting a black image after an image frame is displayed. During the time period of inserting the black image, a positive voltage is applied to the cathode to turn off the LED. A negative bias from the gate terminal to the drain terminal is produced to cause voltage level of the gate terminal to be less than the source terminal.

Abstract: The invention discloses a recombinant gene which enhances the ability of fish to tolerate low dissolved oxygen (DO) stress and the use thereof. Carp ?-actin gene promoter is used as a promoter and Vitreoscilla hemoglobin gene is used as a target gene, so as to construct the recombinant Vitreoscilla hemoglobin gene driven by carp ?-actin promoter. The modeling organism zebrafish is used as the research object, and the recombinant gene is microinjected into zygotes of zebrafish. After PCR screening and 156 h low DO stress test, transgenic fish are obtained with a survival rate of 92%, which is significantly different from the survival rate of 65% of the control fish group. The vhb transgenic zebrafish obtain hypoxia tolerance. When the recombinant gene is applied to the economically farmed species, i.e., blunt snout bream (Megalobrama amblycephala) and common carp (Cyprinus carpio L.), it enhances their hypoxia tolerance as well.
