Abstract: The present disclosure is related to a method for increasing the ethanol concentration from the conversion of lignocellulose. The pretreated solid residues are mixed with ethanol-containing broth from the fermentation of xylose hydrolysate by Pichia stipitis and then are performed under the process of simultaneous saccharification and fermentation (SSF) with Sacharomyces cerevisiae and cellulase for converting cellulose to ethanol. The final ethanol concentration in broth as well as the ethanol productivity is increased at least 1.8 times in comparison of conventional process for lignocellulosic ethanol production.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method to manufacture an electrode. The metal oxide of different sizes (or metal oxide secondary particle of similar size) is formed on a transparent substrate by electrophoresis deposition. Subsequently, the metal oxide layer is compressed and dipped in dye to complete an electrode applied in a solar cell. Furthermore, the step of dipping the metal oxide in dye can be earlier than the electrophoresis deposition, thereby reducing the dipping period and dipping temperature.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method for carrying out matrix-free mass spectrometry, which includes subjecting an analyte sample containing a self-assembled monolayer on the surface of a substrate to laser desorption/ionization. The method for carrying out matrix-free mass spectrometry involves simple pretreatment of an analyte sample with a cationic solution without using any solid matrix to cause effective laser desorption/ionization of the analyte sample, and minimizes a biochemical and physiological change in the sample that may occur during the pretreatment of the sample. In addition, the method is applicable to quantitative analysis because it provides high reproducibility of the results by virtue of the uniform treatment with the cationic solution over the whole areas of the sample. Further, the method enables two-dimensional mapping analysis.

Abstract: This aims to provide a DOI type radiation detector in which scintillation crystals arranged two-dimensionally on a light receiving surface to form rectangular section groups in extending directions of the light receiving surface of a light receiving element are stacked up to make a three-dimensional arrangement and responses of the crystals that have detected radiation are made possible to identify at response positions on the light receiving surface, so that a three-dimensional radiation detection position can be obtained. In the DOI type radiation detector, scintillation crystals are right triangle poles extending upwards from the light receiving surface and the response positions on the light receiving surface are characterized. With this structure, DOI identification of a plurality of layers can be carried out by simply performing an Anger calculation of a light receiving element signal.
