    Abstract: The invention provides a nanostructure material with metallic oxide including a product fabricated by the following steps: condensing silicon oxide or titanium oxide with a surfactant, obtaining a mesoporous silicon oxide or titanium oxide; mixing the mesoporous silicon oxide or titanium oxide with a metal or metallic compound and subjecting the mixture to a heterogeneous nucleation. According to another embodiment of the invention, the nanostructure material can also be fabricated by the following steps: subjecting silicon oxide or titanium oxide and a carbon black template to a calcination; mixing the results with a metal or metallic compound; and subjecting the mixture to a second calcinations. Further, in the invention, a method for detecting phosphorus-containing compounds employing the aforementioned nanostructure material is also provided.

    Abstract: The invention is directed to the regulation of glucose homeostasis by modulating the activity of Grb2-associated binder 1 (Gab1) in hepatocytes. This invention also provides for a method for identifying compounds capable of modulating the glucose homeostasis regulatory activity of Gab1. In one aspect, the invention provides a method for identifying a compound that can effectively modulate glucose homeostasis wherein Gab1 mediated MapK activity indicates that the candidate compound is an effective compound that modulates glucose homeostasis. In another aspect, the invention provides a method for identifying a compound that can effectively modulate the glucose homeostasis regulating activity of Gab1 wherein MAPK is activated to phosphorylate Serine residue 612 of IRS-1, indicating that the candidate compound is an effective compound that modulates glucose homeostasis. In another aspect of the invention is provided a method for diagnosing Gab1 related disorders.

    Abstract: Disclosed herein is an apparatus for continuously producing and pelletizing gas hydrates. The apparatus includes a gas supply unit, a water supply unit and a reactor. Gas and water are respectively supplied from the gas supply unit and the water supply unit into the reactor. The gas and water react with each other in the reactor. The reactor includes a dual cylinder unit which forms a gas hydrate in such a way as to squeeze a slurry of reaction water formed by the reaction between the gas and water. The dual cylinder unit includes an upper cylinder, a lower cylinder and a connection pipe which connects the upper cylinder to the lower cylinder. The connection pipe has passing holes through which the reaction water in the reactor flows into and out of the connection pipe.

    Abstract: The disclosed is a biodegradable copolymer, an amphiphilic diblock copolymer, composed of a hydrophilic segment and a hydrophobic segment. The hydrophilic segment is an endcapped PEG or derivatives thereof. The hydrophilic segment is a random polymer polymerized of lactone or cyclic C3-C6 molecule and lactic acid/glycolic acid. There is no coupling agent between the hydrophilic and hydrophobic segments, and the biodegradable copolymer is formed by one-pot ring-opening polymerization. The biodegradable copolymer can be dissolved in water to form a thermosensitive material having a phase transfer temperature of 25 to 50° C., thereby being applied to biological activity factor delivery, tissue engineering, cell culture and biological glue.
