Abstract: An approach to adaptively positioning a set of mobile routers to provide communication services to a set of clients makes use of estimated direction profiles of communication between routers and clients. The approach does not rely on a Euclidean model in which communication characteristics (e.g., signal strength, data rate, etc.) depend on distance between communicating nodes, and does not necessarily require sampling of communication characteristics in unproductive directions in order to move the routers to preferable locations.

The dielectric material layer includes at least one ionic species having a high ion mobility. The target material is configured such that a potential difference applied to the device can cause the at least one ionic species to migrate reversibly across the interface into or out of the target material layer. The mobility of the at least one ionic species can be tuned by exposing the device to electromagnetic radiation and/or a temperature change.
Abstract: A method of controlling solar panels in a solar propelled aircraft which has a wing having solar cell modules mounted therein. The solar propelled aircraft includes: first solar cell modules which are positioned in a main wing or a tail wing of the aircraft and receive solar energy directly from the sun; second solar cell modules which are positioned in a main wing or a tail wing of the aircraft and supplied with directed energy from the earth; and rotating shafts which rotate the first solar cell modules and the second solar cell modules so that the first solar cell modules and the second solar cell modules correspond to each other in both directions. The first solar cell module at the upper surface obtains solar energy from the sun, and the second solar cell module at the lower surface obtains directed energy transferred from the earth.
Abstract: Dual-band barrier infrared detectors having structures configured to reduce spectral crosstalk between spectral bands and/or enhance quantum efficiency, and methods of their manufacture are provided. In particular, dual-band device structures are provided for constructing high-performance barrier infrared detectors having reduced crosstalk and/or enhance quantum efficiency using novel multi-segmented absorber regions. The novel absorber regions may comprise both p-type and n-type absorber sections. Utilizing such multi-segmented absorbers it is possible to construct any suitable barrier infrared detector having reduced crosstalk, including npBPN, nBPN, pBPN, npBN, npBP, pBN and nBP structures. The pBPN and pBN detector structures have high quantum efficiency and suppresses dark current, but has a smaller etch depth than conventional detectors and does not require a thick bottom contact layer.

Abstract: To study RNA function using small molecules, we designed bioactive, modularly assembled small molecules that target the noncoding expanded RNA repeat that causes myotonic dystrophy type 1 (Dm1), r(CUG)exp. Different modular assembly scaffolds were investigated including polyamines, alpha-peptides, beta-peptides, and peptide tertiary amides (PT As). Based on activity as assessed by improvement of DM1 -associated defects, stability against proteases, cellular permeability, and toxicity, we discovered that constrained backbones, namely PT As, are optimal.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for preparing a catalyst comprising a ruthenium-containing catalyst layer highly dispersed with a uniform thickness on a surface of a substrate having a structure, which comprises first aging a mixed solution of a ruthenium precursor-containing solution and a precipitating agent to form a ruthenium-containing precipitate seeds, secondarily aging the first aged mixed solution to grow the seeds thereby forming ruthenium-containing precipitate particles, and then contacting the particles with a substrate to deposit the particles on the surface of the substrate. Since the catalyst has a structure in which the round shaped ruthenium-containing precipitate particles are piled to form the ruthenium-containing catalyst layer, it has a large specific surface area. Thus, the catalyst may exhibit excellent catalytic performance in various reactions for producing hydrogen using a ruthenium catalyst.
