Abstract: The invention relates to a nano silicon-carbon composite negative material for lithium ion batteries and a preparation method thereof. A porous electrode composed of silica and carbon is taken as a raw material, and a nano silicon-carbon composite material of carbon-loaded nano silicon is formed by a molten salt electrolysis method in a manner of silica in-situ electrochemical reduction. Silicon and carbon of the material are connected by nano silicon carbide, and are metallurgical-grade combination, so that the electrochemical cycle stability of the nano silicon-carbon composite material is improved.

Abstract: An optical window based on an array of rings and sub-rings having a triangular and orthogonal mixed distribution is suited for electromagnetic shielding. The array has metal rings of the same diameter acting as basic rings closely arranged according to an equilateral triangular and two-dimensional orthogonal square mixed arrangement and is loaded on an optical window transparent substrate surface. Adjacent basic rings are connected externally tangentially. Metal sub-rings are arranged within each basic ring and connected thereto internally tangentially. Each basic ring and its sub-rings constitute a basic unit. At tangential connection locations of the rings, wires overlap or metal is provided to ensure reliable electrical connections between connected rings, thus all rings are conductive.

Abstract: In some implementations, bending or other shape changes of a device are actuated by inflating or deflating a bladder in the device. Then, once the desired new shape is achieved by this actuation, another bladder in the device is layer-jammed, to make the device rigid in the new shape. In some cases, sheets in the layer-jamming bladder are coated with abrasive particles. In some cases, layer jamming bladders are interwoven to form a woven device. The rigidity of the woven device can be anisotropically controlled. Layer jamming some, but not all, of the bladders in the woven device causes the woven device to have a rigidity that varies by direction. In some cases, a layer-jamming bladder includes a solid layer with a crease in it. As a result, the bladder can easily bend at the crease.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a linear flow regulating apparatus for intravenous infusion, and more particularly, to a flow regulating apparatus which is used in an infusion set for intravenous infusion to regulate the flow rate of a solution injected into a body. To eliminate the difficulties caused by the nonlinearity of conventional flow regulating apparatuses, which regulate flow rates by pressing a solution flow tube to adjust the flow passage area, the linear flow regulating apparatus has a control unit to be put in or taken out along the width of a flow channel unit through which the solution flows when the height and length of the flow channel unit are fixed, and is capable of linearly regulating the flow rate by varying the flow passage area of the flow channel unit by adjusting the width of a flow channel unit.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a method of identifying the dominant orientations of a scene comprises representing a scene as a plurality of directional vectors. The scene may comprise a three-dimensional representation of a scene, and the plurality of directional vectors may comprise a plurality of surface normals. The method further comprises determining, based on the plurality of directional vectors, a plurality of orientations describing the scene. The determined plurality of orientations explains the directionality of the plurality of directional vectors. In certain embodiments, the plurality of orientations may have independent axes of rotation. The plurality of orientations may be determined by representing the plurality of directional vectors as lying on a mathematical representation of a sphere, and inferring the parameters of a statistical model to adapt the plurality of orientations to explain the positioning of the plurality of directional vectors lying on the mathematical representation of the sphere.
