Abstract: In a computing device that defines a rule for natural language processing of text, annotated text is selected from a first document of a plurality of annotated documents. An entity rule type is selected from a plurality of entity rule types. An argument of the selected entity rule type is identified. A value for the identified argument is randomly selected based on the selected annotated text to generate a rule instance. The generated rule instance is applied to remaining documents of the plurality of annotated documents. A rule performance measure is computed based on application of the generated rule instance. The generated rule instance and the computed rule performance measure are stored for application to other documents.

Abstract: An animal model for Parkinson's disease has a disrupted Mfn2 gene in dopaminergic neurons. The Mfn2 gene disruption results in severe movement disorder attributed to progressive degeneration of the nigrostriatal circuit as found in Parkinson's disease. The animal model having exogenous suppression of the Mfn2 gene in dopaminergic neurons is a suitable animal model for studying Parkinson's disease.
Abstract: The invention discloses a multi-metallic bulk catalyst with layered structure, wherein the metals in the multi-metallic bulk catalyst is consisted of a Group VIII metal MI, at least one metal MII with the valence of +3 and at least two Group VIB metals MIII+MIV, wherein (the mole number of MI+the mole number of MII):(the mole number of MIII+the mole number of MIV) is from 1:9 to 9:1; the mole number of MI:the mole number of MII is from 1:5 to 5:1; and the mole number of MIII:the mole number of MIV is from 1:5 to 5:1. The invention also discloses the preparation method and use of the above catalyst. The invention is use for the hydrodesulfurization of diesel distillate including 4,6-dimethyldibenzothiophene, wherein the catalyst exhibits a extreme high hydrodesulfurization activity. Thus, the ultra-deep hydrodesulfurization is achieved and the cost of the bulk catalyst is reduced.

Abstract: Provided herein are high-input detector modules and multi-input biological classifier circuits and systems that integrate sophisticated sensing, information processing, and actuation in living cells and permit new directions in basic biology, biotechnology and medicine. The multi-input biological classifier circuits described herein comprise synthetic, scaleable transcriptional/post-transcriptional regulatory circuits that are designed to interrogate the status of a cell by simultaneously sensing expression levels of multiple endogenous inputs, such as microRNAs. The classifier circuits then compute whether to trigger a desired output or response if the expression levels match a pre-determined profile of interest.

Abstract: A high-speed high-voltage pulser especially designed to operate in high radiation environments. The pulser uses a primary side driver and switches in front of an isolation gate transformer. The primary side driver and switches provide amplified and fast complementary pulse signals to the transformer. The transformer has top and bottom secondary windings, which respectively receive the complementary signals, and deliver them to secondary side drivers and switches. The switches are implemented with series-connected FETs.
Abstract: Various embodiments are directed to techniques for providing one or more reduced-size rule cubes indicating cell rules. A computer-program product embodied in a machine-readable storage medium includes instructions to cause a computing device to select a cell rule to include in a rule cube based on applicability of the cell rule to a selected portion of a data cube; analyze the cell rule to identify a wildcarded dimension in a specification of cells of the data cube that are subject to the cell rule; and generate the rule cube indicating applicability of the cell rule to the selected portion of the data cube, wherein a cell of the rule cube corresponds to multiple cells of the data cube, and wherein the wildcarded dimension of the rule cube is reduced in length in comparison to a length of the wildcarded dimension of the data cube. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

Abstract: This invention discloses using one or more color-encoded fringe patterns for optically, three-dimensionally measuring an object's shape. In one embodiment, a color-encoded fringe pattern comprising a plurality of fringes that are modulated in intensity is configured as follows. An individual fringe selected from the fringes comprises a colored line at a location on the fringe width. The colored line has a line width that is substantially narrower than the fringe width in order that the colored line has a substantially similar intensity over the line width. The individual fringe excluding the colored line has a fringe color that is substantially uniform over the individual fringe. The fringe color is substantially different from the line color. Fringe colors of all the fringes are substantially similar, thereby enabling a major portion of the color-encoded fringe pattern to provide a substantially-uniform illumination color for projection onto the object.
