Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of reducing the level of uric acid in a subject, which comprises administering to said subject an effective amount of a fermentation product of Tenacibaculum sp. Also provided are a method of preventing and/or treating a disease or disorder related to hyperuricemia, a method of increasing the digestion of uric acid and a method of producing uricase.

Abstract: Disclosed are a method of manufacturing a metal wiring buried flexible substrate and a flexible substrate manufactured by the same. The method includes coating a sacrificial layer including a polymer soluble in water or an organic solvent, or a photodegradable polymer on a substrate (Step 1), forming a metal wiring on the sacrificial layer in Step 1 (Step 2), forming a metal wiring buried polymer layer by coating a curable polymer on the sacrificial layer including the metal wiring formed thereon in Step 2 and curing (Step 3) and separating the polymer layer in Step 3 from the substrate in Step 1 by removing through dissolving in the water or the organic solvent or photodegrading only the sacrificial layer present between the substrate in Step 1 and the polymer layer in Step 3 (Step 4).

A host cell transformed with the shuttle vector can effectively produce industrially useful substances. Abstract: A method of identifying a sample includes placing the sample in proximity to a plurality of nanoparticles and irradiating the plurality of nanoparticles with laser radiation. A plasmon resonance process results in heating of the plurality of nanoparticles due to the laser irradiation. The method also includes transferring energy from the plurality of nanoparticles to the sample, obtaining a Raman spectrum associated with sample, and identifying the sample based on the Raman spectrum.
Abstract: An electronic apparatus and a method for incremental pose estimation and photographing are provided. In the method, at least two images of a 3D object are captured at different positions encircling the 3D object. Displacements and angular displacements are detected when capturing the images. Features of the 3D object in the images, the displacements and the angular displacements are used to estimate a central position of the 3D object and a distance between the electronic apparatus and the 3D object. A circumference suitable for capturing the images of the 3D object is estimated based on the distance and is divided into several segments, and a timing interval of a timer is adjusted based on a length of the segments. A camera of the electronic apparatus is triggered at intervals set by the timer to capture the images of the 3D object.

Abstract: Provided is a composition for preventing or alleviating skin wrinkles containing honeybush (Cyclopia intermedia) extract, a fraction thereof, or a fermented honeybush as an active ingredient. More particularly, the honeybush extract or fermented honeybush of the claimed subject matter can reduce the length and depth of skin wrinkles caused by UV irradiation and reduce the thickness of the epidermal layer, in addition to suppress collagen tissue breakdown reactions, indicating it is excellent in alleviating skin wrinkles, so that it can be effectively used as an active ingredient of a composition for preventing or alleviating skin wrinkles.

The optical waveguide directs the primary light beam from the light source, through the housing interior and toward a luminescent material of the light converter. The luminescent material emits secondary light of one or more wavelengths different from the primary wavelength in response to excitation by the primary light beam. The light source may be mounted outside the housing interior so as not to obstruct light propagation.

Abstract: A graphene transistor optical detector based on a metamaterial structure and an application thereof. The optical detector includes a substrate, a gate metal layer, a gate medium layer, a graphene layer, a source and drain metal layer successively arranged from bottom to top, wherein a local region of at least the source and drain metal layer has a periodic micro/nanostructure, the periodic micro/nanostructure being matched with the gate metal layer and the gate medium layer to form a metamaterial structure having a complete absorption characteristic. By changing the refractive index, thickness or the like of material for the periodic micro/nanostructure and the gate medium layer, a light absorption frequency band of the metamaterial structure can be regulated. The optical detector provided by the present invention has higher flexibility and narrow-band response, and can work under visible light to infrared even longer wavebands by selecting different metamaterial structures.

Abstract: The approaches and apparatuses for fabricating cathodes can be adapted to improve control over cathode composition and to better accommodate batteries of any shape and their assembly. For example, a first solid having an alkali metal halide, a second solid having a transition metal, and a third solid having an alkali metal aluminum halide are combined into a mixture. The mixture can be heated in a vacuum to a temperature that is greater than or equal to the melting point of the third solid. When the third solid is substantially molten liquid, the mixture is compressed into a desired cathode shape and then cooled to solidify the mixture in the desired cathode shape.

Abstract: A method of manufacturing a sub-wavelength extreme ultraviolet metal transmission grating is disclosed. In one aspect, the method comprises forming a silicon nitride self-supporting film window on a back surface of a silicon-based substrate having both surfaces polished, then spin-coating a silicon nitride film on a front surface of the substrate with an electron beam resist HSQ. Then depositing a chrome material on the front surface of the substrate through magnetron sputtering. Then, removing the chrome material inside the ring pattern. Abstract: The present invention is directed to methods of forming olefins, especially linear alpha olefins from fatty acids or anhydrides, each method comprising: contacting an amount of precursor carboxylic acid anhydride with a palladium catalyst comprising a bidentate bis-phosphine ligand in a reaction mixture so as to form an olefin in a product with the concomittant formation and removal of CO and water from the reaction mixture, either directly or indirectly, wherein the reaction mixture is maintained with a sub-stoichiometric excess of a sacrificial carboxylic acid anhydride, an organic acid, or both, said sub-stoichiometric excess being relative to the amount of the precursor carboxylic acid anhydride. The precursor carboxylic acid anhydride may be added to the reaction mixture directly or formed in situ by the reaction between at least one precursor carboxylic acid with a stoichiometric amount of the sacrificial acid anhydride.
