Abstract: A method of manufacturing a solid oxide fuel cell stack having an electrically conductive interconnect, including the steps of: (a) providing a first fuel cell and a second fuel cell, (b) providing a substrate having an iron-chromium alloy, (c) depositing a layer of metallic cobalt over a portion of substrate surface, (d) subjecting the layer of metallic cobalt to reducing conditions, (e) then exposing the remaining portion of the layer of metallic cobalt to oxidizing conditions for a predetermined time and temperature, such that the surface portion of the layer of metallic cobalt is oxidized to cobalt oxide, thereby forming the electrically conductive interconnect having a layer of metallic cobalt sandwiched between a surface layer of cobalt oxide and the layer of cobalt-iron-chromium alloy, and (f) sandwiching the substrate between the first and second fuel cells.

Abstract: A time-series waveform of tire vibration detected by an acceleration sensor is windowed by a windowing unit, time-series waveforms of the tire vibration are extracted for respective time windows, and feature vectors of the respective time windows are calculated. Then kernel functions are calculated from the feature vectors of the respective time windows and road surface feature vectors, which are the feature vectors for the respective time windows calculated from the time-series waveform of the tire vibration obtained for distinctive road surface conditions calculated in advance. And the road surface condition is determined by comparing values of discriminant functions using the kernel functions. As a result, the road surface condition can be determined from the time-series waveform of the tire vibration without detecting peak positions or measuring the wheel speed. Moreover, robustness against changes in tire size can be added to the determination of the road surface condition.

Abstract: A photoacid includes a nucleophilic (NuH) moiety having a photodissociable proton, an electron accepting (EA) moiety, and a bridge structure (X) bonded to both the NuH moiety and EA moiety positioned between the NuH and EA moieties. The NuH and EA moieties each include respective structure so that the EA moiety bonds to a proton photodissociated form of the NuH moiety during a reversible photoinduced intramolecular reaction to form a ring, which has been found to significantly increase the lifetime of the proton dissociation state.
