  • Patent number: 9244277
Abstract: A tiled head-mounted display device comprises an optical component including a plurality of prisms with free-form surfaces, and a display component including a plurality of micro-displays (6), wherein the number of the micro-displays (6) and the number of the prisms with free-form surfaces is identical, and each prism with free-form surfaces and the corresponding micro-display (6) constitute a display channel. Each prism is a wedge prism including a first surface (2), a second surface (3) and a third surface (4). The exit pupil planes of each display channel are coincident, thus avoiding pupil aberration and keeping exit pupil diameter and eye clearance same as a single ocular. There is no resolution variance throughout the entire field of view, thus preventing extra trapezoid distortion. The tiled head-mounted display device is compact and lightweight, and provides wide field of view and high resolution.

  • Patent number: 9242240
Abstract: The present invention provides methods for the synthesis of catalysts and precursors thereof. Methods of the invention may comprise combining a catalyst precursor and at least one ligand to generate a catalytically active species, often under mild conditions and in high yields. In some cases, a wide variety of catalysts may be synthesized from a single catalyst precursor. Methods of the invention may also include the preparation of catalysts which, under reaction conditions known in the art, may have been difficult or impossible to prepare and/or isolate due to, for example, steric crowding at the metal center. The present invention also provides catalyst compositions, and precursors thereof, which may be useful in various chemical reactions including olefin metathesis. In some cases, methods of the invention may reduce the number of synthetic and purification steps required to produce catalysts and/or other reaction products, as well as reducing time, cost, and waste production.

  • Patent number: 9245758
Abstract: A method for fabricating a silicon-doped or boron-doped aluminum electrode is revealed. Aluminum target or aluminum paste prepared by selectively doped with silicon and/or boron is arranged at a silicon wafer with a passivation layer by physical deposition or screen printing. Then the doped aluminum layer is melted in linear or dot pattern to pass through the passivation layer and contact with the silicon wafer. Thus contact resistance between an aluminum back electrode and the silicon wafer of crystalline silicon solar cells is reduced and acceptor concentration on a surface layer of the silicon wafer is increased. Therefore the process speed is faster and the energy conversion efficiency of the solar cell is improved.

  • Patent number: 9244161
Abstract: An ultrasound transmission circuit comprises a pulse generating circuit, a feedback circuit and a processing circuit. The feedback circuit outputs a trigger signal according to a first pulse signal arriving at an ultrasound transducer. The processing circuit records a first time point at which the first pulse signal is generated, and records a second time point at which the first pulse signal arrives the ultrasound transducer according to the trigger signal. The processing circuit adjusts a first delay value according to a variance between the first time point and the second time point to generate a second delay value, and drives the pulse generating circuit according to the second delay value to generate a second pulse signal.

  • Patent number: 9243196
Abstract: A method of processing synthesis gas improves the quality of the synthesis gas by using a water gas shift reaction to increase the molar ratio of hydrogen to carbon monoxide (H2:CO) in an efficient manner. A first steam of hot natural gas-based synthesis gas having a first higher molar ratio of H2:CO is combined with a second stream of quenched synthesis gas having a second lower molar ratio of H2:CO to provide a blend of synthesis gas having a third molar ratio of H2:CO that is between the first and second molar ratios. A non-catalytic water gas shift reaction increases the molar ratio of H2:CO to a fourth molar ratio that is higher than the third molar ratio, and can be about equal to or greater than the first molar ratio without supplying external heat.

  • Patent number: 9246334
Abstract: Technologies are generally described for alleviating solar power congestion in a distribution grid via smart metering communications. According to some examples, a power network system supervised by utility operators may monitor and control grid-tied power generation modules associated with consumers to ensure the distribution grid is stable in terms of network capacity limit. A communications infrastructure including home area networks (HANs) and neighborhood area networks (NANs) between smart meters and utility control centers may facilitate power congestion management. Utility control centers (UCCs) in cooperation with smart meters or energy management units (EMUs) may selectively disconnect consumer power generation units to maintain the system reliability.
