Abstract: A three-terminal device that exhibits transistor-like functionality at cryogenic temperatures may be formed from a single layer of superconducting material. A main current-carrying channel of the device may be toggled between superconducting and normal conduction states by applying a control signal to a control terminal of the device. Critical-current suppression and device geometry are used to propagate a normal-conduction hotspot from a gate constriction across and along a portion of the main current-carrying channel. The three-terminal device may be used in various superconducting signal-processing circuitry.

Abstract: Poly(?-amino esters) prepared from the conjugate addition of bis(secondary amines) or primary amines to a bis(acrylate ester) are described. Methods of preparing these polymers from commercially available starting materials are also provided. These tertiary amine-containing polymers are preferably biodegradable and biocompatible and may be used in a variety of drug delivery systems. Given the poly(amine) nature of these polymers, they are particularly suited for the delivery of polynucleotides. Nanoparticles containing polymer/polynucleotide complexes have been prepared. The inventive polymers may also be used to encapsulate other agents to be delivered. They are particularly useful in delivering labile agents given their ability to buffer the pH of their surroundings.

Abstract: There is provided a substrate with a lower growth confinement layer disposed thereon. An upper growth confinement layer is disposed above and vertically separated from the lower growth confinement layer. A planar lateral growth channel is provided between the upper and lower growth confinement layers with a vertical separation between the layers along the lateral growth channel. A germanium material growth seed of amorphous silicon is disposed at a site adjacent to the lateral growth channel. The upper growth confinement layer and the lower growth confinement layer each prohibits crystalline germanium material nucleation on the upper and lower growth confinement layers during exposure to GeH4 gas, for crystalline germanium material growth initiation in the lateral growth channel only at the growth seed site. Crystalline germanium material fills the lateral growth channel. A growth channel outlet provides formed crystalline germanium material from the lateral growth channel.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides improved stripfilm based pharmaceutical products (e.g., for enhancing dissolution and bioavailability). More particularly, the present disclosure provides improved systems/methods for fabricating stripfilm based pharmaceutical products by utilizing higher viscosity film forming precursors and drying methods that accomplish improved/faster drying and provide improved/excellent content uniformity of active pharmaceutical agents in the stripfilm based pharmaceutical products. Exemplary systems/methods advantageously use high viscosity, bio-compatible polymeric precursors, (optional use of surface modified drug powders), and convective drying for fabrication of thin films loaded with nano and/or micro sized particles of poorly water-soluble active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) to achieve improved active content uniformity and very fast dissolution from poorly water soluble actives, while accomplishing fast drying during the fabrication process.
