Abstract: A delivery device for topical and systemic delivery of agents to targeted oral locations, such as mouth cancer cells, has been developed. The formulation includes a mucoadhesive polymeric matrix such as chitosan, which contains one or more therapeutic and/or diagnostic agents, taste masking agents, permeation enhancers, the therapeutic or diagnostic agent to be delivered, and a hydrophilic polymeric coating such as polyethyleneglycol (“PEG”). Abstract: Visual prosthesis apparatus includes an image receiver, a processor coupled to the image receiver, a stimulation device coupled to the processor, and an eye monitoring device coupled to the processor. The image receiver receives a sequence of images and the processor produces a stimulation signal at least partially in accordance with the received images. The stimulation device receives the stimulation signal and stimulates visual neurons of a user accordingly to provide the user with a visual percept. The eye monitoring device monitors one or more ocular parameters at an eye region of the user, wherein one or more control functions are associated with the monitored ocular parameters. The processor controls the visual prosthesis apparatus in accordance with the monitored ocular parameters and the associated control functions. The one or more ocular parameters can include pupil size, state of closure of the user's eyelid and direction of eye gaze.

Abstract: Disclosed are methods for manufacturing bio-based epoxy resins. The raw materials of the resins include lignin, polyol, solvent, catalyst, acid anhydride, and multi-epoxy compound. The methods of manufacturing the resins include evenly mixing the lignin, the polyol, the catalyst, and the solvent together to form a mixture. The acid anhydride is added to the mixture to process esterification for forming an intermediate product. The multi-epoxy compound is added to the intermediate product to process epoxidation for forming the bio-based epoxy resins. The bio-based epoxy resin has excellent compatibility with the solvent, such that the solvent can be added to the bio-based epoxy resins to form coatings having a tunable solid content. As a result, the coating can be applied to the surfaces of every type of base material.

Abstract: Exemplary embodiments provide dispensers and delivery devices that release their contents at sustained rates. An exemplary device may include one or more reservoirs for holding a solid, semisolid, liquid or gaseous substance that may be released outside the device. Exemplary devices enable sustained release of their contents over a predetermined period of time, for example, up to a month or more. Exemplary devices also enable release of the contents according to, for example, predetermined release rates and profiles customized for the use of the device. Each reservoir of the device may include one or more apertures through which the contents may be released outside the reservoir. Each aperture may be covered by one or more porous membranes to allow sustained release of the contents of the reservoir.
Abstract: In an apparatus for manufacturing a scaffold and a scaffold manufactured by the apparatus, a collector is disposed under a dispensing head that dispenses melted bio materials (polymer) for manufacturing the scaffold. The collector has a cylindrical tube shape. Both sides of the tube shape are fixed. Thus, the tube is securely fixed and bending of the tube is prevented. Also, accuracy and preciseness of the scaffold are improved.
