Abstract: A gravity-fed storage water purifier is provided. The gravity-fed water purifier includes a filtration unit for receiving water. The filtration unit includes a housing unit, a first membrane cloth layer, a second membrane cloth layer, and a granular biocidal composition layer disposed between the first and second membrane cloth layers. The first and second membrane cloth layers remove dirt, sand and sediments from the contaminated water, using a depth filtration mechanism. The granular biocidal composition layer removes bacteria and virus from the contaminated water, through fast leaching of silver ions into the water. A single storage container is provided that collects the water filtered by the virtue of filtration unit and gravity. An adsorbent composition is disposed between the storage container and an outlet tap of the storage container.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a gas sensor including: a substrate; an electrode formed on the substrate; and a gas-sensing layer formed on the electrode, wherein the gas-sensing layer is a self-heating nanocolumnar structure having nanocolumns formed on the electrode and inclined with respect to the electrode with an angle of 60-89° and gas diffusion pores formed between the nanocolumns. The gas sensor according to the present disclosure requires no additional heater since it self-heats owing to the nanocolumnar structure and exhibits superior gas sensitivity even when no heat is applied from outside. Also, it can be mounted on mobile devices such as mobile phones because it consumes less power.

Abstract: A membrane is provided herein having the ability to remove/prevent membrane fouling. This novel membrane consists of a thin electrically conductive layer deposited on the membrane surface. This unique membrane can be used as an electrode in an electrochemical system that consists of the membrane, the salty water as an electrolyte and a counter electrode that can be inserted in the saline feed solution. A periodic electrolysis can be performed. Electrolysis will generate gases (e.g., Cl2 and O2) and the periodic gases evolution at the membrane surface acts to clean and prevent both fouling and scaling of the membrane surface. The new system enables on-line self-cleaning mechanism of the membrane, which is useful for, inter alia, use of such a membrane in a system for the desalination of saline water or wastewater.

Abstract: A method for switching communication connection modes, a communication system, a base station, a transmitter and a receiver are provided. The method includes the following steps. Firstly, when a base station or a core network entity determines that a communication mode between a transmitter and a receiver should be switched from a cellular communication mode to a device-to-device communication mode, the base station sends a control message to the transmitter. Next, the transmitter stops transmitting at least one first packet to the base station in response to the control message. Afterwards, the receiver receives at least one transmission-unfinished packet and a transmission-unfinished packet status related to the at least one transmission-unfinished packet forwarded by the base station.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is an apparatus and method that enable data sharing to be performed between short-range/middle-range/long-range mobile terminals by minimizing specific intervention of a user. The apparatus includes a social relationship management unit for managing social network group information formed by a user while the user utilizes a social network service. A device recognition and authentication unit identifies a mobile terminal of another party attempting to make a connection and allocates a data communication channel for data exchange, based on device information received from the mobile terminal of the other party attempting to make a connection and the social network group information. A shared data setting unit sets data to be shared with the mobile terminal of the other party between which the data communication channel has been established. A shared data transmission unit transmits the data to be shared to the mobile terminal of the other party.
