Abstract: A method and a device useful for identifying or detecting the presence of a material of interest, such as an explosive or a biological contaminant, in a sample is presented herein. The sample is illuminated with electromagnetic radiation at a predetermined set of wavelengths. An example of an illumination source includes a quantum cascade laser (QCL). The radiation reflects from a sample and is detected at pixels of a detector. Examples of the detectors include digital focal plane array (DFPA) cameras. Intensity of the reflected radiation is measured at each illumination wavelength. The pixels can be configured to add weighted intensities of the reflected radiation, the weights of the intensities being based on a predicted optical response value for the sample at the wavelengths of the first set and the second set of wavelengths. Based on the sum of weighted intensities of the reflected radiation, the likelihood that the material is present within the sample is determined.

Abstract: A method of managing a service mode of a femto cell base-station and access allowance for a terminal is disclosed. The method of managing access allowance includes receiving a first access allowance change request for a terminal, and transmitting a second access allowance change request for the terminal to a mobility management entity (MME) in response to the first access allowance change request. With the method of the example embodiments of the present invention, the service mode of the femto base-station and the access allowed terminal can be changed in real time according to a situation of the user. Accordingly, quality of service can be improved and efficient management of the femto base-station can be achieved through interference control between the macro base-station and the femto base-station.

Abstract: According to one exemplary embodiment, a method for analyzing root causes applies an application-level dependency discovery and anomaly detection to find application-level dependencies in one or more virtual machines (VMs), and generate an application-level topology with anomaly, and then transfers the application-level topology with anomaly to a VM-level dependency, and transfers the VM-level dependency to a physical machine level (PM-level) dependency via a physical and virtual resource mapping, and eventually generates a group of event sets. A prioritized event list is generated by prioritizing the group of event sets.

Abstract: The use of implanted medical devices that address a wide range of health conditions is rapidly expanding. These implanted devices include: Cochlear implants, drug dispensing pumps, cardiac pacemakers, defibrillators and other devices. Although these devices are designed to withstand interference from external radio frequency, electric and magnetic fields, interference can occur which may affect the operation of these devices and pose a health risk. An inventive personal, body-wearable electric field, radio frequency, and three-axis magnetic field monitoring device detects the ambient radio frequency, electric and magnetic fields and warns the wearer when any of these field measurements exceeds a safe level.

Abstract: A TEM cell includes an untapered region part configured to have a straight-line structure in which a cross-sectional area of an internal space is constantly maintained, tapered region parts coupled between both sides of the untapered region part and a connection part and each configured to have a tapered structure in which the cross-sectional area of the internal space is reduced toward the connection part, wherein a horizontal length of the tapered region part and a horizontal length of the untapered region part are determined in such a way as to reduce an electromagnetic field component in a direction vertical to a cross section of the untapered region part. The EMS evaluation performance of the TEM cell can be improved because an unnecessary electromagnetic field component can be reduced by designing the horizontal length of the untapered region longer than the horizontal length of the tapered region.
