Abstract: A method for sharing and updating a key using a watermark is disclosed. The method includes receiving an image to be encoded from an image input device encoding the image, and inserting a master key value as a watermark into the encoded image, for use as an input of a key derivation function.

Abstract: Disclosed are granular mesoporous silica and a preparation method thereof. The preparation method includes preparing powdered silica containing a structure derivative to form mesopores; preparing a molded precursor including the powdered silica and an inorganic binder or an organic binder; preparing a granular molded article having a predetermined shape by extruding or injection-molding the molded precursor; and removing the structure derivative by calcinating the granular molded article. The granular mesoporous silica represents superior pore characteristics and is used as an adsorbent capable of effectively removing pollutants in water treatment and air pollution treatment.

Abstract: A composition is provided, wherein the composition comprises a water-swellable, water-insoluble polymer, a blend of a hydrophilic polymer with a complementary oligomer capable of hydrogen or electrostatic bonding to the hydrophilic polymer. The composition also includes a backing member. Active ingredients, such as a whitening agent, may be included. The composition finds utility as an oral dressing, for example, a tooth whitening composition that is applied to the teeth in need of whitening. The composition can be designed to be removed when the degree of whitening has been achieved or left in place and allowed to erode entirely. In certain embodiments, the composition is translucent. Methods for preparing and using the compositions are also disclosed.

Abstract: A membrane electrode assembly for a high-temperature proton-exchange membrane fuel cell includes a nano-engineered polymeric membrane between an anode and a cathode. The membrane is an electrical insulator, but permits that passage of protons through the membrane. The membrane has a plurality of blind pores therein, each blind pore having an electrically-conductive coating along its inner wall that is in electrical contact with the adjacent one of the anode or cathode. The electrically-conductive coating includes a catalyst, such as platinum, for promoting the liberation of a proton and an electron from a chemical molecule, such as hydrogen, and/or for promoting the combination of a proton, an electron and another molecule, such as oxygen, to form yet another molecule, such as water.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating arthritis, including, as an active ingredient, a material which inhibits the expression of the hypoxia-inducible factor-2? (HIF-2?) gene or the activity of the HIF-2? protein. According to the present invention, the HIF-2? of the present invention increases the expression thereof in chondrocytes or tissue in which osteoarthritis is induced, and triggers the expression of various cartilage degeneration factors and the activation of mitogen-activated protein (MAP) kinase. In addition, when HIF-2? is inhibited, the expression level of cartilage degeneration factors and the phosphorylation of MAP kinase are significantly reduced by the inhibited degree of HIF-2?. Thus, the composition of the present invention may be applied to the prevention or treatment of arthritis, and may be used for the development of therapeutics for arthritis.

Abstract: A system and method for automatically observing and counting cells without using a stain or a fluorescent material. The system includes an optical microscope having a sensor that provides an electrical signal representative of a field of view. The microscope is motorized so as to allow automatic change of focus. A sample containing cells to be analyzed is provided. No stain or fluorescent substance is used. When the microscope is operated in a deliberately out-of-focus condition, cells appear to have either a bright or a dark spot that can be used to report the number of cells in the sample. The intensity variation detected in images acquired in different focal planes is used to identify cell shapes using image analysis software such as CellProfiler. A result is reported in any convenient format, such as a false color image.

Abstract: An electronic seal includes a radio frequency identification apparatus, an antenna assembly and an impedance matching circuit. Abstract: There are provided an apparatus and a method for privacy protection in association rule mining among data mining technologies. An apparatus for privacy protection in association rule mining according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: a fake transaction inserter that generates fake transactions of a predetermined number each having a predetermined length and inserts the fake transactions between a plurality of transactions comprised in an original data set to generate a first virtual data set; and a distortion transaction generator that generates a second virtual data set by converting data of the transaction of the first virtual data set with a predetermined probability.
