  • Publication number: 20070128416
Abstract: The present invention fundamentally differs from conventional methods in which an external force is directly applied to a surface of an article to be modified, and relates to a method of hydrophobilization (increasing a contact angle of water) which comprises bringing a hydrophobilization substance (a substance for increasing a contact angle of water) released from a material of another location into contact with a surface of an article, especially an article surface being hydrophilic (having a small contact angle of water) in its initial state without applying an external force on the article surface, further a method of control being capable of noncontact switching of a contact angle of water, which comprises conducting hydrophilization of an article surface subjected to hydrophobilization by the above-mentioned method in a noncontact manner and repeating these hydrophobilization and hydrophilization, and a method of pattern formation using the mentioned methods.

  • Patent number: 7225997
Abstract: A nozzle distributor base for distributing a gas which is laden with fine solids particles, preferably for use in a fluidized-bed unit, in particular for the reduction of metal oxide-containing solids particles. At least one movable cleaning device on the distributor base reduces the formation of deposits on the distributor base or the nozzles thereof or at least partially removes deposits which have already formed. Elements in the distributor base, like chains, ropes or movable rods, clean the distributor base by direct mechanical striking action on the distributor base and/or the nozzles of the nozzle distributor base. A method for reducing the formation of deposits and/or for at least partially removing deposits on a distributor base uses the striking action.

  • Patent number: 7226795
Abstract: The MFIS transistors heretofore have a problem that after data writing, the data disappear in terms of memory transistor operation in about one day at most. This is mainly because the buffer layer and the ferroelectric have a high leakage current and, hence, charge is accumulated around the interface between the ferroelectric and the buffer layer so as to shield the electric polarization memorized by the ferroelectric, making it impossible for the electric polarization of the ferroelectric to control electrical conduction between the source and the drain in the transistor. In the present invention, by constituting an insulator buffer layer 2 of HfO2+u or Hf1?xAl2xO2+x+y, the leakage current flowing through each of the insulator buffer layer 2 and a ferroelectric 3 can be reduced and a memory transistor having a truly sufficient long data holding time is realized.

  • Patent number: 7227894
Abstract: An architecture of a fine granularity scalable (FGS) codec has an encoder and a decoder configurable in three prediction modes. The coarse prediction loop in the base layer of the encoder has a switch for selecting either coarse prediction output or fine prediction output in the encoder. The fine prediction loop in the enhancement layer of the encoder also has a switch for selecting either coarse prediction output or fine prediction output. Two-pass encoding is used in the encoder. The first pass extracts coding parameters and classifies macroblocks of a video frame into three groups each being assigned with all-coarse prediction mode, all-fine prediction mode or mix prediction. The second pass uses the assigned modes to encode the macroblocks. A rate adaptation algorithm is provided to truncate the enhancement bit-planes for low bit rate, medium bit rate and high bit rate and allocate bit efficiently for achieving higher video quality.

  • Patent number: 7227123
Abstract: Provided is a physical quantity measuring method using a Brillouin optical fiber sensor. An optical fiber is set on a structure and a pair of pulse lights having different pulse widths is selected. The pulse lights are sequentially transmitted through the optical fiber to obtain back scattering lights and Brillouin gain spectra. The Brillouin gain spectra are compared to each other to calculate a normalized spectrum and a Brillouin frequency is acquired based on the normalized spectrum. The Brillouin frequency is multiplied by a conversion factor of a corresponding physical quantity of the structure to obtain the physical quantity. Accordingly, a portion of the optical fiber from which a sensing signal can be acquired is shortened to improve spatial resolution.
