  • Publication number: 20070114913
Abstract: A field emission backlight module has a field emission structure with cathode and anode provided on the same plane, so that electrons directly penetrate an independently provided fluorescent powder layer to produce light. The light is emitted uniformly without the need of the conventional optical membrane. Since the light produced by the fluorescent powder layer is not blocked by the anode, the problem of charge accumulation on the fluorescent powder layer is avoided, and it is not necessary to use expensive light-transmittable conducting glass as the anode. With the cathode and the anode located at the same plane, it is not necessary to use a precision spacer to adjust the distance between the cathode and the anode, enabling the module to be manufactured at reduced cost and high good yield. When the color sequential displaying method is adopted, expensive color filters required in the conventional LCD may be omitted.

  • Publication number: 20070118290
Abstract: Described are a method and a system for detecting an atmospheric feature. A value of a meteorological scalar field at an initial time is determined for a set of tracers. Each tracer is initialized at a first tracer location. An integration time is selected according to a coherence time of a type of the feature to be detected. Alternatively, or in combination with the selected integration time, a spatial resolution of the wind field is selected according to a spatial scale of the type of feature to be detected. Each tracer is advected to a second tracer location at an earlier time according to the integration time and the wind field. A value of the meteorological scalar field at the earlier time and second tracer location is determined for each tracer and summed with the value at the first location to generate an integrated value of the meteorological scalar field.

  • Publication number: 20070116919
Abstract: The present invention relates to an optical recording medium including a substrate and a recording layer having a bi-metal film layer structure formed on a surface of the substrate. The recording layer includes a first metal recording layer of a Ge metal thin film and a second metal recording layer of an Au metal thin film. The bi-metal film layer structure can be formed by sputtering, which is therefore compatible with a conventional disc process. In the optical recording medium, a write area of the recording layer is heated by laser irradiation to reach an eutectic point and melted to form alloy. A write recording point can be distinguished by telling a difference in reflectance between the alloy area and the non-reacted metal area, and thus may be used in both a low-speed recording and a high-speed recording, and can be used in FVD and blue ray DVD recorder.

  • Publication number: 20070115862
Abstract: Provided is a channel mode converting method of a wireless portable Internet system. When a diversity channel mode is converted into an Adaptive Modulation and Coding (AMC) channel mode, a radio resource for transmitting Channel Quality Information (CQI) is allocated without responding to a resource allocation request and a request between a terminal and an access point. Therefore, a delay time can be reduced on the channel mode conversion. In addition, a CQI channel for transmitting the existing channel quality information is released and a CQI channel for a new channel is allocated on the channel mode conversion. As a result, a time for changing the diversity channel CQI transmission to the AMC channel CQI transmission at the physical layer can be easily synchronized for transmitting the REP_RSP at the MAC.

  • Publication number: 20070115864
Abstract: A method is provided for ordering retransmissions in a Multi-Input Multi-Output (MIMO) system using N×M antennas. A transmitter splits a coded data stream into N sub-packets, and transmits the N sub-packets to a receiver via N transmission antennas. The receiver removes interferences of the N sub-packets received via M reception antennas, and independently decodes the interference-removed sub-packets. The receiver transmits an acknowledgement (ACK) or a negative acknowledgement (NACK) to the transmitter based on errors included in the decoded sub-packets. Upon receipt of the NACK, the transmitter retransmits to the receiver a sub-packet retransmission using ordering based on an Alamouti space-time coding scheme.
