Abstract: This invention provides methods and systems for measuring the concentration of multiple nucleic acid sequences in a sample. The nucleic acid sequences in the sample are simultaneously amplified, for example, using polymerase chain reaction (PCR) in the presence of an array of nucleic acid probes. The amount of amplicon corresponding to the multiple nucleic acid sequences can be measured in real-time during or after each cycle using a real-time microarray. The measured amount of amplicon produced can be used to determine the original amount of the nucleic acid sequences in the sample. Also provided herein are biosensor arrays, systems and methods for affinity based assays that are able to simultaneously obtain high quality measurements of the binding characteristics of multiple analytes, and that are able to determine the amounts of those analytes in solution. The invention also provides a fully integrated bioarray for detecting real-time characteristics of affinity based assays.

Abstract: A controlled-release material sensitive and response to fouling organisms for an antifouling agent includes an encapsulating precursor and a crosslinking agent. A hyaluronic acid/polyL-lysine nano-shell controlled-release material is prepared by an alternating layer-by-layer self-assembly of hyaluronic acid and poly-L-lysine, and a polypropylene ammonium chloride/poly-L-glycine nano-shell controlled-release material is prepared by an alternating layer-by-layer sell-assembly of polypropylene ammonium chloride and poly-L-glycine. The crosslinking agent is composed of 1-(3-dimethylaminopropyl)-3-ethylcarbodiimide hydrochloride and N-hydroxythiosuccinimide. Based on the specific catalytic hydrolysis characteristic of fouling organism extracellular proteases on the controlled-release material, the purpose of adjusting the release of antifouling agents adaptively with the change of fouling organisms in off-season/peak-season can be achieved, prolonging the service life of the antifouling coatings.

Abstract: A method of screening solvents for the solubilization of petroleum hydrocarbons is disclosed. The method includes dissolving petroleum hydrocarbons in a selected solvent to form a first solution, adding an ionic liquid to the first solution and blending to form a second solution and measuring absorbance of the second solution using spectroscopic techniques. The solubilization of petroleum hydrocarbons in the solvent is then determined based on the difference between the measured absorbance of the first and second solution. A system for screening solvents for the solubilization of petroleum hydrocarbons is also disclosed. The system can be used in removal of wax deposition in refinery process equipment, process flow lines, during piping operations, up-gradation of wax, prevention of clogging of pipelines, processing of sludge or for removing sludge from petroleum tank installations and enhancing the crude oil flow.

Abstract: A method, a device and a system for safely and reliably performing real-time speed measurement and continuous positioning are provided. With the method, inertial navigation data from an inertial navigation signal source arranged in a train is detected, and correction data from a correction signal source is detected. In a case that no correction data is detected, a current speed and a current position of the train is determined based on the inertial navigation data, and in a case that the correction data is detected, the inertial navigation data is corrected with the correction data, and a current speed and position of the train are determined based on the corrected inertial navigation data. Therefore, even in the case that no correction data is detected, the real-time speed measurement and continuous positioning can be performed safely and reliably based on the inertial navigation data.
