Abstract: The present invention discloses a laser heating single-sensor fast scanning calorimeter, which comprises an FSC sample chamber, a chip sensor positioned in the FSC sample chamber and used for loading a sample, a laser heater for heating the sample, an infrared camera for shooting a sample image, a communication terminal and a control electronic element, wherein a perspective window serving as a light path channel is arranged in a center of the FSC sample chamber, and the laser heater and the infrared camera are positioned at the top of the perspective window; the infrared camera is connected with the communication terminal; one end of the control electronic element is connected with the communication terminal, and the other end of the control electronic element is connected with the laser heater and the chip sensor.

Abstract: Conventional readout of a superconducting nanowire single-photon detector (SNSPD) sets an upper bound on the output voltage to be the product of the bias current and the load impedance, IB×Zload, where Zload is limited to 50? in standard RF electronics. This limit is broken/exceeded by interfacing the 50? load and the SNSPD using an integrated superconducting transmission line taper. The taper is a transformer that effectively loads the SNSPD with high impedance without latching. The taper increases the amplitude of the detector output while preserving the fast rising edge. Using a taper with a starting width of 500 nm, a 3.6× higher pulse amplitude, 3.7× faster slew rate, and 25.1 ps smaller timing jitter was observed. The taper also makes the detector's output voltage sensitive to the number of photon-induced hotspots and enables photon number resolution.

Abstract: A driver monitor system and method for predicting impairment of a user of a vehicle. The system includes video cameras, an input device for inputting a list of medications being taken by the driver. Processing circuitry predicts side effects of the medications based on the half-life of the medication, detecting eye gaze movement, eye lid position, and facial expression of the user using images from the video camera, predicting whether the user is transitioning into an impaired physical state that is a side effect of the medications, verifying the side effect of the medications, determining whether the user is fit to drive using the verified side effects of the medications, and outputting to the vehicle an instruction to operate the vehicle in a level of automation that makes up for the at least one side effect or to perform a safe pull over operation of the vehicle.
