Abstract: In a network including a wide area network and a local area network, an edge server may be within the wide area network and geographically close to a customer device of the local area network. Such an edge server may be vulnerable to attacks, such as distributed denial of service attacks, including SYN floods. Systems and methods for customer control of edge service are provided while mitigating such attacks.

Abstract: A tool is provided to configure an edge compute environment of a network. The edge compute configuration tool may generate a configuration process for instantiating an edge compute environment at an edge site of a network including configuring one or more of the components of the edge compute environment. The configuration process may be based on seeding data and/or information provided to the edge compute configuration tool via a user interface and/or from one or more databases associated with the network. The configuration process may further include generating automatically executed configuration instructions that communicate with the devices of the edge compute environment to configure operational processes of the devices, provision communication ports, establish one or more network addresses with the devices, etc. In some instances, the edge compute configuration tool may execute one or more micro-services to communicate with and control configuration of the devices of the edge compute environment.

Abstract: Novel tools and techniques are provided for implementing firewall functionalities, and, more particularly, to methods, systems, and apparatuses for implementing high availability (“HA”) web application firewall (“WAF”) functionalities. In various embodiments, a first computing system might monitor network communications between a client and a server providing access to software applications, and might determine whether latency has been introduced as a result of at least one first WAF container having been launched and whether any introduced latency exceeds a predetermined threshold, each first WAF container being tuned to a corresponding software application and protecting the software application from network attacks. Based on a determination that latency has been introduced and based on a determination that the introduced latency exceeds the predetermined threshold, one or more second WAF containers may be launched, each being tuned to the corresponding software application.

Abstract: Video cameras are used for monitoring, e.g., for security, in various applications, such as monitoring property, or ingress or egress points from buildings. Such video cameras may be vulnerable to various kinds of attack, which may seek to interfere with the capturing of a video stream by the camera, or with the subsequent transmission of the video stream. As such, systems and methods for authenticating video feeds are provided.

Abstract: Novel tools and techniques are provided for implementing enhanced 911 call functionalities. In various embodiments, in response to receiving a 911 call request from a caller using a calling device associated with an originating telephone number (“TN”), a computing system may determine whether a user profile associated with the caller and/or the originating TN contains registered third parties on a 911 call notification list. Based on a determination that the user profile contains at least one registered third party on the 911 call notification list associated with the caller and/or the originating TN, the computing system may send a message to each of the at least one registered third party indicating that the caller has called 911, and/or may establish a listen-in only bridged connection, a full bridge connection, or a shared communication to the 911 call for each registered third party.

Abstract: Novel tools and techniques are provided for implementing media content streaming/downloading and playback, and, more particularly, to methods, systems, and apparatuses for implementing video quality optimization based on display capabilities. In various embodiments, a computing system might receive user input from a user indicating a user request for media content. The computing system might autonomously determine characteristics or attributes of a playback device (i.e., a display device and/or audio playback device, etc.). The computing system might send, to a media content source over a network, a request for the media content, the request comprising information regarding presentation characteristics that are based at least in part on the determined characteristics of the playback device.

Abstract: Novel tools and techniques are provided for implementing flexible printed circuit board (“PCB”)-based mobile sensor platform. In various embodiments, a flexible PCB-based mobile sensor platform includes a body portion(s) and at least one of a microcontroller, a locomotion system, sensors, a transceiver(s), and/or the like, each disposed on the body portion(s). The locomotion system includes one or more flexible PCB portions and corresponding actuators. Based on instructions from the microcontroller, at least one actuator may cause bending and unbending of a corresponding flexible PCB portion(s) that causes the flexible PCB-based mobile sensor platform to move toward a target location within a first environment. Upon arrival, the sensors may collect sensor data regarding at least one of the target location, an object located at the target location, or a portion of the object, and the microcontroller may send the collected sensor data to an external device via the transceiver.

Abstract: Example systems and methods permit threat intelligence to be determined and used at a local, regional, and/or global level in a communications network. A threat intelligence system may collect traffic information from local computing systems and analyze it for malicious traffic. If a measure of malicious traffic in a local computing system is reached, mitigation actions may be taken in that local computing system. In addition, threat measures may be amplified in other local computing systems, other regions, or globally in the network, in order to more quickly react to a known threat as it may spread in a network.

Abstract: Novel tools and techniques are provided for implementing Internet of Things (“IoT”)-based microwell solution for irrigation. In various embodiments, in response to receiving, from the plurality of sensors, first sensor data indicative of environmental conditions within an area, a computing system may analyze the first sensor data to determine parameters associated with water requirements within the area, may generate a water distribution plan based at least in part on the determined parameters, and may map the generated water distribution plan to a positional map of a plurality of microwells disposed at pre-installed locations within the area. The computing system may generate and send instructions to the microwells to pump water from an underground water source(s) (in some cases, surface water sources as well) and to irrigate plants or crops in the area using integrated irrigation systems, based on the mapping. The microwells and sensors may utilize IoT functionalities.

Abstract: Examples of the present disclosure relate to content delivery using distributed ledger and AI-based transcoding technologies. In examples, content is received by a content distribution network (CDN) from a content source. The content may be in a lower-quality or different format than is distributed via the CDN. Accordingly, a transcoding model is identified and used to transcode the content. Multiple transcoding models may be used for different content parts to adapt to changing content types (e.g., a sports subpart, an advertising subpart, etc.). Transcoding may occur at edge nodes, such that the original content is transmitted within the CDN, thereby conserving resources. Additionally, transcoded content may be cached, such that the content need not be transcoded in response to every request.

Abstract: Systems and methods for securely and remotely storing data in a remote, distributed redundant array of independent drives (RAID) is provided. RAID storage is accomplished through a series of mapped drives, non-routable Internet protocol (IP) addresses, and routable IP addresses. In addition, authorization to access a RAID controller, network address translation (NAT) system, and domain name system (DNS) system may all be separated, increasing security and allowing storage to be securely distributed among a variety of dispersed storage locations.

Abstract: Novel tools and techniques are provided for implementing an enclosure for protecting at least one connector of a cable. In some embodiments, an enclosure comprises an enclosure housing. The enclosure housing includes a first part and a second part. The first part of the enclosure housing is attached to the second part of the enclosure housing. The first part of the enclosure housing and the second part of the enclosure housing together define a chamber to fully enclose a connector assembly and a connector housing the at least one connector of the cable. The enclosure includes at least one opening disposed at a first end of the enclosure housing. The at least one opening is configured to allow a boot of the at least one connector or the cable of the at least one connector to extend through the at least one opening.

Abstract: Examples of the present disclosure relate to content delivery using distributed ledger and AI-based transcoding technologies. In examples, a content distribution network (CDN) receives content from a content source for distribution to client devices. A content record is generated for the content, which comprises a content hash for the content. The content record may be stored in a distributed ledger. A smart contract associated with the content may be generated, where the smart contract facilitates CDN analytics or accounting for CDN service payments, licensing fees, or royalty payments, among other examples. The smart contract may be associated with the content hash and may be executed based on any of a variety of triggers, such as content playback and/or distribution via the CDN.

Abstract: The present technology relates to improving computing services in a distributed network of remote computing resources, such as edge nodes in an edge compute network. In an aspect, the technology relates to a system that includes a plurality of edge nodes and a beacon. The system performs operations that may include collecting traffic data from the beacon over a period of time, wherein the traffic data includes at least an amount of devices sending probe requests to the beacon; comparing the amount of devices to a predetermined threshold for traffic data; and based on the comparison of the amount of devices to the predetermined threshold for traffic data, generating a recommendation for installation of a new edge node in addition to the plurality of edge nodes.

A universal customer edge gateway device may generate, prior to deployment of the universal customer edge gateway device at a customer location, copies of virtual network function (VNF) operating system (OS) images on the universal customer edge gateway device, the copies including a first copy of a first VNF OS image and a second copy of a second VNF OS image; identify, during a deployment of the universal customer edge gateway device at the customer location, a selection of the first copy from a list of the copies; copy, during the deployment and based on the selection, the first VNF OS image to the universal customer edge gateway device; and instantiate, at the universal customer edge gateway device, the copied first VNF OS image.

Abstract: Handheld tools are provided for removing a wire from within an optical cable. For example, the handheld tool may be used to remove a copper wire from a fiber optic drop cable in an efficient manner without damaging other components of the fiber optic drop cable. Advantageously, the optical cable may be used immediately after the wire is removed without further steps by the technician, such as re-applying an outer protective sleeve, as is commonly required with known tools.

A system includes a host machine that includes a database, processor, and non-transitory computer readable media comprising instructions executable by the processor to obtain, via the database, a network configuration, spawn a container according to the network configuration, wherein the container is configured, based on the network configuration, to be coupled to a network overlay via a network interface, receive, via the network interface, incoming data associated with the container, the incoming data having attached one or more attached network data attributes, and identify, via the database, the attached one or more network data attributes attached to the incoming data as one or more network data attributes of the network data model.

Abstract: Novel tools and techniques are provided for implementing service diagnostics and provisioning via a service action guidance engine (“SAGE”). In various embodiments, SAGE may autonomously analyze data to identify any issues with provisioning one or more first services, among a plurality of services, to a first customer of a service provider. SAGE may autonomously identify one or more first automation actions from a plurality of automation actions to address at least one first issue identified based on the analysis, and may autonomously send one or more first instructions to one or more first automation bots, among a plurality of automation bots, to perform the identified one or more first automation actions. SAGE may also generate and present one or more guidance messages to call center users to guide interaction between customers and the call center users, based on analysis data associated with provisioning of services to the customers.
