Publication number: 20150278408Abstract: An information processing unit and information processing method capable of performing a ground-state search of an Ising model having coefficients of arbitrary values regardless of restrictions on hardware or software is suggested. When a ground state of an original problem, which is an Ising model, or an approximate solution of that ground state is calculated as a solution of the original problem, one or more sub-problems which are Ising models are generated from the original problem and the information processing unit searches the ground state of each generated sub-problem and generates a solution of the original problem based on a solution of each sub-problem obtained from the search; and when types of coefficient values of an Ising model whose ground state can be searched are limited, sub-problems which are Ising models composed of the types of limited values of coefficients are generated.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 12, 2015Publication date: October 1, 2015Applicants: Hitachi, Ltd., Inter-University Research Institute Corporation, Research Organization of Information and SystemsInventors: CHIHIRO YOSHIMURA, Masanao Yamaoka, Ken-ichi Kawarabayashi, Takuro Fukunaga, Taro Takaguchi, Takanori Maehara, Takuya Ohwa

Patent number: 9111229Abstract: A method is provided of creating an end-to-end entanglement (87) between qubits in first and second end nodes (81, 82) of a chain of optically-coupled nodes whose intermediate nodes (80) are quantum repeaters. Local entanglements (85) are created on an on-going basis between qubits in neighboring pairs in the chain through interaction of the qubits with light fields transmitted between the nodes. The quantum repeaters (80) are cyclically operated with their top-level operating cycles being synchronized. Once every top-level operating cycle, each repeater (80) initiates a merging of two entanglements involving respective repeater qubits that are at least expected to be entangled with qubits in nodes disposed in opposite directions along the chain from the repeater. A quantum repeater (80) adapted for implementing this method is also provided.Type: GrantFiled: October 26, 2009Date of Patent: August 18, 2015Assignees: Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P., Inter-University Research Institute Corporation Research Organization of Information and SystemsInventors: Keith Harrison, William Munro, Kae Nemoto

Publication number: 20150210286Abstract: A time-series waveform of tire vibration detected by an acceleration sensor is windowed by a windowing means, time-series waveforms of the tire vibration are extracted for respective time windows, and feature vectors of the respective time windows are calculated. Then kernel functions are calculated from the feature vectors of the respective time windows and road surface feature vectors, which are the feature vectors for the respective time windows calculated from the time-series waveform of the tire vibration obtained for distinctive road surface conditions calculated in advance. And the road surface condition is determined by comparing values of discriminant functions using the kernel functions. As a result, the road surface condition can be determined from the time-series waveform of the tire vibration without detecting peak positions or measuring the wheel speed. Moreover, robustness against changes in tire size can be added to the determination of the road surface condition.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 9, 2013Publication date: July 30, 2015Applicants: BRIDGESTONE CORPORATION, INTER-UNIVERSITY RESEARCH INSTITUTE CORPORATION, RESEARCH ORGANIZATION OF INFORMATION AND SYSTEMInventors: Yasushi Hanatsuka, Tomoyuki Higuchi, Tomoko Matsui

Patent number: 8963246Abstract: There is provided a semiconductor device and a method for manufacturing a semiconductor device. Within the N-type semiconductor layer formed from a high resistance N-type substrate, the P-type well diffusion layer and P-type extraction layer are formed and are fixed to ground potential. Due thereto, a depletion layer spreading on the P-type well diffusion layer side does not reach the interlayer boundary between the P-type well diffusion layer and the buried oxide film. Hence, the potential around the surface of the P-type well diffusion layer is kept at a ground potential. Accordingly, when the voltages are applied to the backside of the N-type semiconductor layer and a cathode electrode, a channel region at the MOS-type semiconductor formed as a P-type semiconductor layer is not activated. Due thereto, leakage current that may occur independently of a control due to the gate electrode of a transistor can be suppressed.Type: GrantFiled: March 9, 2011Date of Patent: February 24, 2015Assignees: Inter-University Research Institute Corporation High Energy Accelerator Research Organization, LAPIS Semiconductor Co., Ltd.Inventors: Yasuo Arai, Masao Okihara, Hiroki Kasai
