Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing remote control of content rendered by a set top box is described including transmitting a state request message by a user to the set top box via a server, receiving a state reply message by the user from the set top box via the server, determining by the user if the user needs to control the set top box responsive to information in the state reply message and transmitting a remote control command to the set top box via the server. Also described are a method and apparatus including recording information of events by the set top box, receiving a state request message via a server, generating a state reply message including the recorded information, transmitting the state reply message via the server, receiving a remote control command via the server and performing an action specified by the remote control command.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to methods, apparatus or systems for inciting a user consuming an immersive content to rotate the immersive rendering device in the direction of a region of interest. According to the present principles, an object representative of a character is inserted in the field of view of the user. The character is computed in a way it looks in the direction of the region of interest from its location in the immersive content. In addition, face and body attitude of the character may reflect an emotion that is associated with the region of interest, for example scare, happiness or interest. The user will naturally be incited at looking in the direction indicated by the inserted character.

Abstract: Devices, systems and methods for performing maintenance in Data over Cable Service Interface Specification (DOCSIS) network CPE devices and for improving recovery to a normal operating state from maintenance are provided. The devices, systems and methods provide for entering a standby mode for an electronic device for a duration of a maintenance period. A currently-used RF communication channel frequency of the electronic device is stored as a last known channel frequency into a memory. RF communication channel operation between the electronic device and an upstream content distribution device is suspended for the duration of the maintenance period. After the maintenance period, the last known channel frequency is used to reestablish a communication connection between the electronic device and the upstream content distribution device.
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for depth-map estimation between at least two images respectively captured by at least two cameras are disclosed. Extrinsic and intrinsic parameters of the at least two cameras are obtained. Local spatial structure descriptors for each pixel of the at least two images are obtained by transforming a patch of pixels surrounding each pixel, and depth is obtained for at least one pixel of a first image among the at least two images, among at least two depth candidates, each depth candidate being associated with a corresponding pixel in a second image of the at least two images, said corresponding pixel in the second image being determined according to the obtained extrinsic and intrinsic parameters.
Abstract: A method and device are described to increase the light output on specific areas of a display. The display may be part of a High Dynamic Range (HDR) device. The device includes a processor and a power source. The processor is configured to process a received content signal. The power source further includes a circuit configured to receive a request signal from the processor and, in response to the received request signal, adjust the power supply limitation that increases a light output on a first area of a display when the content signal is displayed.
Abstract: A solution for transferring audiovisual data between devices is provided. A device, for example a guest device, wishes to transfer audiovisual data to a device in a host local network. The guest device connects to a server in a wide area network via the host local network. The guest device selects, via its connection to the server and from a list, provided by the server, of devices in the host local network, a device present in the host local network. The guest device retrieves via the list connection parameters for transferring audiovisual data to the selected device. The guest device connects to the selected device in the host local network using the retrieved connection parameters and transfers audiovisual data to the selected device.

Abstract: When a failure is detected of a communication link between a wireless access point and a service provider providing services to devices in proximity of said wireless access point, a probe request message is broadcasted on one or more wireless communication channels. The broadcasted probe request message includes a particular payload enabling the message to be identified as being a distress message reporting a failure of the communication link. Another wireless access point within wireless communication reach receiving a distress message may transfer a communication link failure report to the service provider in place of the wireless access point of which the communication link fails.
Abstract: A home assistant device captures voice signal expressed by users in the home and extracts vocal features from these captured voice recordings. The device collects data about the current context in the home and requests from an aggregator a background model that is best adapted to the current context. This background model is obtained and locally used by the home assistant device to perform the speaker recognition. Home assistant devices from a plurality of homes contribute to the establishment of a database of background models by aggregating vocal features, clustering them according to the context and computing background models for the different contexts. These background models are then collected, clustered according to their contexts and aggregated by an aggregator in the database. Any home assistant device can then request from the aggregator the background model that fits best its current context, thus improving the speaker recognition.
