Abstract: Freeze-drying methods and systems include performing a constant-pressure drying phase in a chamber, where a temperature of a heating tray increases. A constant-temperature drying phase is performed in the chamber, where a pressure in the chamber decreases. Additional phases alternate between constant-pressure drying phases and constant-temperature drying phases. The alternating drying phases are halted, responsive to a determination that the temperature of the heating tray has reached a maximum temperature.
Abstract: A vehicle seat can be configured to selectively provide support to a vehicle occupant in conditions when lateral acceleration is experienced. An actuator can be located within the vehicle seat. When activated, the actuator cause a portion of the seat to morph into an activated configuration. The actuator can be activated based on vehicle speed, steering angle, and/or lateral acceleration. The actuator can include a main body member, a first end member pivotably connected to a first end region of the main body member, and a second end member pivotably connected to a second end region of the main body member. The actuator can include shape memory material connecting members. The actuator can be configured such that, in response to an activation input, the shape memory material connecting members contract, causing the first and second end members pivot, which causes the actuator to morph into an activated configuration.

Abstract: A system that uses persistent sound source selection to augment audio content. The system comprises one or more microphones coupled to a frame of a headset. The one or more microphones capture sound emitted by sound sources in a local area. The system further comprises an audio controller integrated into the headset. The audio controller receives sound signals corresponding to sounds emitted by sound sources in the local area. The audio controller further updates a ranking of the sound sources based on eye tracking information of the user. The audio controller further selectively applies one or more filters to the one or more of the sound signals according to the ranking to generate augmented audio data. The audio controller further provides the augmented audio data to a speaker assembly for presentation to the user.

Abstract: A method implemented by a data processing system including: executing a dataflow graph that includes the plurality of components and the links, with a given component of the plurality including an input port, an audit port and an output port; processing, by the dataflow graph with the components and the links, the one or more data records representing the transaction, wherein the at least one of the components saves a state specifying one or more input records that are processed by the at least one of the components; when an error occurs during processing of one or more input records by the given component, restoring a state of the at least one of the components to the saved state; and based on the restored state, recovering at least some of the audit data for the given component of the dataflow graph.
Abstract: Detection of an impact to a vehicle is based on data received from one of (a) one or more infrastructure sensors included in an infrastructure element or (b) the vehicle. Verification of the impact is determined by determining that data received from the other of the infrastructure sensors or the vehicle (a) detects the impact and is verified or (b) does not detect the impact and is unverified. A message is transmitted to the vehicle including the verification of the impact and one of (a) a request to operate to a predetermined location based on the impact being verified or (b) a notification to continue a current operation based on the impact being unverified.
Abstract: A method for automatically controlling a vehicle to provide a safety zone to an individual. The method detects, at the vehicle, a condition indicating that an individual outside of the vehicle is in distress. In response, one or more vehicle services are automatically made available to the individual. A corresponding system is also disclosed and claimed herein.
Abstract: A method for operating a vehicle that includes a driveline disconnect clutch is described. In one example, the method includes adjusting a pressure of the driveline disconnect clutch as a function of an engine pull-up torque minus a driver demand torque when the pressure of the driveline disconnect clutch is between a torque stroke pressure and a hydraulic stroke pressure.

Abstract: Non-volatile memory structures for performing compute-in-memory inferencing for neural networks are presented. A memory array is formed according to a crosspoint architecture with a memory cell at each crosspoint junction. The multi-levels memory cells (MLCs) are formed of multiple of ultra-thin dielectric layers separated by metallic layers, where programming of the memory cell is done by selectively breaking down one or more of the dielectric layers by selecting the write voltage level. In an alternate set of embodiments, the memory cells are formed as anti-fuses.

Abstract: A method for managing data in a distributed data processing system including a number of processing nodes includes storing data units in data stores that are associated with a number of different levels of durability. The method includes maintaining indicators including a first indicator associated with a first durability level and a second indicator associated with a second durability level. The first indicator is maintained to reflect a time interval at which all sets of data units associated with the time interval are stored at the first durability level. The second indicator is maintained to reflect a timer interval at which all sets of data units associated with the time interval are stored at the second durability level. The first and second indicators are used to manage processing of the data units in the distributed data processing system.
Abstract: A traffic load can be determined in a telecommunications system using narrowband signal monitoring. Narrowband signals can be generated from a wideband uplink signal. A resource utilization profile can be estimated for a remote unit based on measured power profiles associated with the narrowband signals. Traffic load can be determined based on the resource utilization profile.
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for calibrating actuators in a multi-stage servo system. In certain embodiments, a method may comprise performing a calibration process on a multi-stage actuated servo system, including simultaneously injecting voltage injections into multiple microactuators of the servo system, measuring a resulting position error signal (PES), and determining gain settings for each of the multiple microactuators based on the PES. Multiple microactuators can therefore be calibrated during a single-injection calibration operation.
