Publication number: 20130039756Abstract: Apparatus is provided featuring a casing assembly, a shaft and an integral bellows type mechanical face seal. The casing assembly has an enclosing tube configured to house a stationary bearing and to contain lubricating oil. The shaft is configured to rotate in relation to the stationary bearing, the shaft having a rotating seal with a rotating sealing face.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 11, 2011Publication date: February 14, 2013Applicant: ITTInventors: Paul W. Behnke, Matthew J. Koren

Publication number: 20130039754Abstract: Apparatus, including a vertical double-suction pump, is provided featuring a pump casing and a double suction impeller arranged therein on a shaft. The pump casing has a pump casing wall. The double suction impeller has upper and lower shrouds with metal rims configured to form upper and lower isolating annuli between the double suction impeller and the wall of the pump casing in order to impede a recirculation flow from an impeller discharge to be able to act of the upper and lower shrouds and create a controlled axial thrust load from differentiated hydraulic pressure on the upper and lower shrouds. The upper and lower isolating annuli may also be geometrically varied between the upper and lower shrouds of the double suction impeller to create a pressure differential in a direction parallel to an axis of rotation of the double suction impeller.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 11, 2011Publication date: February 14, 2013Applicant: ITTInventors: Paul W. BEHNKE, Matthew J. KOREN

Patent number: 4417474Abstract: A densitometer for use by itself or in a net oil computer. The densitometer includes two differential pressure units to detect the difference in pressure between two corresponding pairs of points and the differences substracted to provide a corrected density output signal. This output signal is then essentially independent of viscosity and/or other variables.Type: GrantFiled: December 22, 1980Date of Patent: November 29, 1983Assignee: ITTInventor: Peter P. Elderton

Patent number: 4381132Abstract: A flat cable insulation-displacement connector in which the center-to-center spacing of the terminals is less than the spacing between the conductors of the flat cable. The terminals are inserted in the connector housing so that the planes containing the contact slots present an angle of 23.degree. to the lateral axis of the connector. A cable clamp is provided with guide channels positioning the cable over the contact forks at the same angle of 23.degree.. The clamp is provided with relief contours over which the cable is bent successively along several angles when forced down by closing the cover, thus realigning the cable with the connector axis.Type: GrantFiled: September 10, 1980Date of Patent: April 26, 1983Assignee: ITTInventor: Gilles F. A. Tournier

Patent number: 4377809Abstract: A liquid level system employs a bellows which is in flow communication with a differential pressure unit by a column of reference liquid. A float in the bellows carries a switch which energizes an alarm when liquid in the column is lost.Type: GrantFiled: April 27, 1981Date of Patent: March 22, 1983Assignee: ITTInventor: Victor N. Lawford

Patent number: 4376922Abstract: A filter connector is disclosed in which the insulator thereof contains a slot which is parallel to and intersects a row of contact cavities in the insulator. A monolithic capacitor is mounted in the slot with its live electrodes aligned with and facing the contact cavities. A contact in each cavity embodies an integral outwardly extending spring finger which engages one of the electrodes on the capacitor. A rear insulator retains the contacts and capacitor in the cavities and slot, respectively.Type: GrantFiled: October 23, 1980Date of Patent: March 15, 1983Assignee: ITTInventor: Steven Z. Muzslay

Patent number: 4375764Abstract: A liquid level system employs a pair of vertically spaced sensors in a tank such as a boiler. Each sensor includes a pair of bellows. The first bellows is enclosed by a protective enclosure while the second bellows is exposed to the interior of the tank. The first bellows of the two sensors are interconnected and filled with a liquid forming substance, such as an alkali metal, which is in liquid phase at high temperatures, while the second bellows of each sensor and the enclosure for the first bellows are interconnected and filled with a second liquid-forming substance, such as a metal alloy, which is essentially inert. A transducer is connected to one of the second bellows which produces an electrical output signal proportional to the difference between the pressures at the locations of the second bellows and, thus, the level of liquid in the tank.Type: GrantFiled: May 11, 1981Date of Patent: March 8, 1983Assignee: ITTInventors: Victor N. Lawford, Robert R. Austin

Patent number: RE31445Abstract: A submersible pumping system especially adapted to cryogenic storage systems which includes a single fluid transmitting casing extending from the top to near the bottom of the storage container, a normally closed spring biased foot valve on the bottom of the casing, a sealing gland closing the top of the casing having a shiftable portion, and a pump and motor unit suspended through the shiftable portion of the sealing gland in the casing and adapted to open the foot valve. The pump and motor unit is centered in the casing and aligned with the foot valve by mating frusto-conical collars associated with the pump and motor unit and with the valve assembly. The shiftable sealing gland allows the pump and motor unit to be lifted off the foot valve so as to close the valve without venting the casing.Type: GrantFiled: October 19, 1977Date of Patent: November 22, 1983Assignee: ITTInventor: James C. Carter
