    Abstract: Apparatus for improving the driving behavior of a vehicle is provided. The vehicle has front and rear axles, each having a plurality of wheels. Each wheel has a brake. Sensor are provided for measuring the rotational speed of each wheel, the vehicle yaw rate and the vehicle lateral acceleration. An anti-lock braking system provides first preset pressure values for controlling each brake, to prevent the wheels from locking during braking. A traction slip control system provides second preset pressure values for controlling each brake, to prevent the wheels from slipping during acceleration. A brake effort proportioning system provides third preset pressure values for distributing braking pressure between the wheels of the front axle and the wheels of the rear axle. A yawing moment controller provides fourth preset pressure values used to control each brake during cornering, to avoid application to the vehicle of an unbalanced moment which would cause the vehicle to understeer or oversteer.

    Abstract: A method is disclosed for limited write downs of data from higher security classification users to lower security classification users across computer networks, while preserving the security of classified data at the higher security classification user from covert transmission via acknowledgment messages from the higher user to the lower user. The intended acknowledgment message is released to the lower user when it matches the user content of a predicted acknowledgment message. In TCP/IP interface applications, the acknowledgment messages are IP based data transfer protocols acknowledging the transfer of data from the lower side to the higher side. With IP datagram transfers, deterministic portions are predicted and non-deterministic portions are identified. Where the number of non-deterministic bits exceed a predetermined rate, the acknowledgment message is discarded.

    Abstract: A switched reluctance motor includes an auxiliary winding interspersed among the main phase windings such that a constant inductance ratio is established between the main and auxiliary windings regardless of rotor position. The auxiliary winding preferably has a higher inductance compared to the main winding. A test current is injected into the auxiliary winding in order to indirectly determine rotor position and the auxiliary winding is utilized to maintain a holding torque under static load conditions. The disclosed design and methodology improves motor function capabilities and economies.

In each prioritization step of the bus grant cycle, a logic level is produced on the identification bus by logically combining bits of equal significance. This logic level is then compared with the corresponding bits of the applied identification words.

A comparison of unknown speech to speech features from such well-matched speakers is then made and a language decision is arrived on based on a closest match between the unknown speech features and speech features for such well matched reference speakers in a particular language.

    Abstract: A frameless IC card is provided, with a rear board support (26) to hold the rear of a circuit board, wherein a single design of rear board support can hold circuit board rear ends (24A, 24B, 24C) at a selected one of a plurality of different heights. The rear board support has top and bottom horizontal flanges (52, 54) and a plurality of vertical ribs (61-66) merging with the flanges, with the ribs being laterally spaced apart. A first set of vertical ribs (61, 62) has horizontal grooves (71, 72) of a first height extending into its front edge, with the grooves being about as thick as the circuit board, to closely receive the rear (24A) of a circuit board and thereby vertically position it. The rear board support includes a second set of ribs (63, 64) with horizontal grooves (73, 74) lying at a different height, to thereby hold a circuit board rear end (24B) at a different height, thereby enabling the same rear board support to hold circuit boards at selected heights.

The tubing can be manufactured by a process which includes the steps of a) positioning a length of non-reactive tubing having a predetermined outer diameter within an inner diameter of metal tubing of essentially corresponding length, the metal tube having an unsealed side seam, wherein the inner diameter is greater than the outer diameter of the non-reactive tubing; and b) sealing and reducing the metal tubing to an outer diameter essentially equal to the predetermined outer diameter of the interior tubing. The non-reactive interior tube may be made of a suitable polymeric material.

    Abstract: A mounting adapter for coupling a TV lens or other type of lens to a night vision device is provided. The mounting adapter is a longitudinal tubular member that has an exterior surface that tapers from a wider first end to a narrower second end. The interior surface of the wider first end includes a first threaded region to removably couple the mounting adapter to a night vision device. A second threaded region is located on the interior surface of the narrower second end for removably coupling a TV lens or other optical device to the mounting adapter. The mounting adapter defines a cavity for receiving a portion of an image intensifier tube, this cavity being located just past the first threaded region. At the end of the cavity there is defined an annular-shaped seat which abuts against the image intensifier tube when the mounting adapter is coupled to the night vision device.
