Patent number: 5497104Abstract: A test clip is provided, of the type that has multiple contacts that engage the leads of an IC (integrated circuit) device with closely spaced leads, which can be constructed reliably and at low cost. The test clip includes a flat flexible cable (52, FIG. 5) mounted on the clip housing (30), the cable having parallel conductors mounted on an insulative layer. The lower ends (58) of the conductors serve as lead-engaging contacts, and have exposed inner surfaces that directly engage largely vertical parts (60) of the IC device leads. A stiffener (70) formed by a sheet of stiff but flexible material, is attached to the lower portion of the cable on its outer surface, the stiffener having a lower portion that biases the lower ends of the conductors towards the leads. A circuit board (40) is mounted on the clip housing to lie in a horizontal plane, and has contact pads (80) on its lower surface.Type: GrantFiled: September 13, 1994Date of Patent: March 5, 1996Assignee: ITT CorporationInventor: Marik Balyasny

Patent number: 5494344Abstract: In a cornering identification method which, in particular, is provided for automotive vehicles with anti-lock control or traction slip control, the rotating velocities of the two wheels of the one (non-driven) axle are measured and a correction value is continuously determined for the difference in the rolling circumferences of the tires of the two wheels. A reference value (THR) is developed which is representative of a straight-line course and, in accordance with a predetermined time pattern, this reference value is continuously corrected in dependence on the velocity difference of the two wheels. For cornering identification, a velocity difference value (DIF) is compared with the reference value (THR). At the beginning, i.e., after the start of cornering identification, the reference value (THR) will be corrected in relatively short periods which will be prolonged as the ride goes on. The rate of change (.DELTA. THR) of the reference value (THR) is likewise high at the beginning, decreasing thereafter.Type: GrantFiled: April 29, 1994Date of Patent: February 27, 1996Assignee: ITT Automotive Europe GmbHInventors: Harald Heyn, Ralph Gronau, Gunther Buschmann, Thomas Striegel

Patent number: 5495364Abstract: A night vision binocular assembly capable of converting low light and infrared energy into a visible image. The night vision binocular assembly includes at least one objective lens assembly, image intensifier tube, collimator lens assembly and diopter cell assembly encased in an easy to assembly waterproof housing. The objective lens assembly, image intensifier tube, collimator lens assembly and diopter cell assembly are all supported by a common base structure within the housing. As a result, variations caused by thermal expansions and contractions are evenly distributed among the various optical elements, thereby preserving a predetermined optical relationship between those elements. Simple button controls are used to operate and adjust the night vision binocular assembly. The button controls are disposed on a common circuit board. An elastomeric structure is disposed between the circuit board and the interior of the binocular housing.Type: GrantFiled: August 18, 1993Date of Patent: February 27, 1996Assignee: ITT CorporationInventor: Gary L. Patent number: 5495240Abstract: A master-slave data transmission system employs a flexible single-wire bus and where any master unit can send data to or read data from any slave at a single time. Data transfer is accomplished by means of a flexible message format having a variable-length address section and a variable-length data section, with the beginning and end of the individual message sections being defined by labels, and a fixed bit clock being transmitted for a given interval before and/or after the message. During multiple master operation, a priority control arrangement prevents two or more masters from accessing the single-wire bus at the same time.Type: GrantFiled: May 13, 1993Date of Patent: February 27, 1996Assignee: Deutsche ITT Industries GmbHInventor: Klaus Heberle

Patent number: 5490076Abstract: A system of making satellite-to-ground range measurements, carrying out communications between a ground station and a constellation of autonavigating satellites, and using these range measurements to improve navigation accuracy is disclosed. The system comprises an anchor that is in a fixed position relative to the earth. The anchor implements a filtering algorithm to arrive at solutions for the satellites' positions based on measured satellite positions and predicted satellite positions. Each time a new measurement is received by the anchor an update is generated. In this manner the system is capable of updating satellite positions at a greater rate than similar prior art systems, thereby, decreasing the transient response associated with satellite delta-v maneuvers and decreasing the quantity of data that must be exchanged by the anchor and the satellites.Type: GrantFiled: September 12, 1994Date of Patent: February 6, 1996Assignee: ITT CorporationInventors: Harris C. Patent number: 5489127Abstract: A reduced resistance bead seal is integrally formed on a mounting surface of one of two matingly engageable members to form a leak-free seal between the two members despite any eccentricity or angular variances between the two members. In one embodiment, the reduced resistance bead is formed on an inner conical flange of an inverted flared end of a hollow fluid conduit. The bead presents a deformable surface as a fitting urges the flared end of the conduit into engagement with a conical seat in a receiver where eccentricity or angular variances exist between the flared end of the conduit and the conical seat. A unique method and a unique forming tool are used to form the reduced resistance bead in the flared end of the conduit simultaneously with the flaring of the end of the conduit.Type: GrantFiled: August 25, 1993Date of Patent: February 6, 1996Assignee: ITT CorporationInventors: Paul E. Patent number: 5487689Abstract: An automation system for assembling photocathodes into vacuum tube housings is used to produce vacuum tube assemblies. Photocathodes are loaded and otherwise processed in a first evacuated chamber. Similarly, vacuum tube housings are loaded and otherwise processed in a second evacuated chamber. The first and second chambers are always interconnected as a common vessel, wherein the photocathodes from the first chamber are transferred into the second chamber by an automated transfer mechanism. Once in the second chamber, the photocathodes are joined to the vacuum tube houses in an automation process, creating the final product vacuum tube assemblies.Type: GrantFiled: August 15, 1994Date of Patent: January 30, 1996Assignee: ITT CorporationInventors: Richard F. Patent number: 5487573Abstract: A unitary assembly of tubing and an end fitting. The end fitting includes a threaded fastener fitting having a tubular bore extending therethrough. A conical transition is coaxially provided to the bore at the thread/hex interface where the bore constricts. The end of the tubing is coaxially impacted, expanded and sized to an external configuration and dimension that achieves an interference fit relative to the tubular bore through the end fitting. The non-expanded end of the tubing is inserted into the larger of the two bores in the end fitting passed the conical transition and through the smaller bore until it experiences interference from the expansion. The interference is overcome by pressing the expansion into the bore in the end fitting until the expansion is completely seated into the end fitting. The expanded tube and end fitting is machined coaxially using a five step tool.Type: GrantFiled: November 19, 1993Date of Patent: January 30, 1996Assignee: ITT CorporationInventors: John G.
