  • Patent number: 5458404
Abstract: A circuit configuration for a brake system with anti-lock control and/or traction slip control composed of circuits for conditioning wheel sensor signals, controller circuits for analyzing and processing the conditioned sensor signals and for generating braking pressure control signals, monitoring circuits which process the sensor signals irrespective of the controller circuits, and circuits for exchanging and comparing signals of the controller circuits with corresponding signals of the monitoring circuits. The monitoring circuits have a simpler structure than the controller circuits. The control philosophy is reproduced in the monitoring circuits. In particular, the control phases are determined by the reproduction on the basis of the same control criteria and control parameters which the controller circuits use. The signals of the reproduction circuits are united with the valve-excitation signals in correlation circuits for the detection of errors.

  • Patent number: 5458406
Abstract: An electronic pressure relief system for a traction slip control vehicle brake system maintains the pressure within the brake system at its desirable level by electronically controlling an isolation valve coupled to the brake conduit. The isolation valve is controlled by supplying an energizing current to the valve at a preselected level such that the holding pressure exerted by the valve is maintained at a level approximately equal to the maximum desired pressure level to be maintained within the brake conduit during the traction slip control maneuver.

  • Patent number: 5456439
Abstract: A power seat adjuster includes a rotatable drive shaft with first and second axial ends and an intermediate arcuate portion connecting the first and second axial ends. The first and second axial ends are respectively axially connected to a drive motor gear assembly and to a driven lead screw. A horizontal drive block threadingly engaging the lead screw is rotatably and vertically translatingly mounted in an aperture in a lower track for self-alignment of the drive block with respect to the lead screw. A housing rotatably receives the axial connection between one end of the drive shaft and the lead screw. The drive nut is rotatably and translatingly mounted in a bracket fixed to an upper track for self-alignment of the drive shaft with the lead screw. • Patent number: 5456283
Abstract: An infinite hydraulic check for use with a door that maintains the door in any position until an appropriate check effort is applied to release the door from the position. The check includes an annular needle cavity with a closed first portion and a second portion, the second portion including a by-pass port along an inner circumference. An annular needle is received in the needle cavity. The by-pass port is obstructed when the needle is in a partial open position. Hydraulic fluid driven through an inlet orifice gradually displaces fluid from the closed first portion of the cavity, forcing the needle further into the cavity, unobstructing the by-pass port and permitting increased fluid flow. The controlled activation of the damped check release reduces noise.

  • Patent number: 5455711
Abstract: A coupling device and associated method for coupling an unassociated afocal optical assembly to a night vision apparatus in order to alter the optical power normally associated with the night vision. The coupling device includes two separate adapter rings that threadably connect to each other. The first adaptor ring is sized and shaped to threadably engage the night vision apparatus proximate the objective lens of the night vision apparatus. The second adaptor ring is sized and shaped to screw onto the output end of the afocal optical assembly. Accordingly, when the first adaptor ring is joined to the second adaptor ring, the output end of the afocal optical assembly is optically aligned with the objective lens of the night vision apparatus. Consequently, the afocal optical assembly enhances the optical power associated with the night vision apparatus.

  • Patent number: 5452501
Abstract: A hinge and check assembly for checking the door of a motor vehicle when in the open position. The assembly provides a base having check profiles formed therein to establish predetermined check positions. The assembly also provides a strap that provides a spring biased contact surface for engaging the check profiles formed in the base. The strap is pivotally connected to the base through a pivot pin that defines a hinge axis, and the strap is allowed to rotate with the door of the vehicle about the hinge axis. Upon rotation of the strap, the contact surface follows the check profile and establishes a predetermined check position. The check profiles are perpendicular to the pivot pin, and the contact surfaces are perpendicular to the check profiles so that the check force applied to the pivot pin is in an axial direction. By having the check force applied axially to the pivot pin, deformation and wear to the pivot pin and its associated bushing does not occur.

  • Patent number: 5452319
Abstract: The inherent structure of redundant information fields contained in the message format of a multifrequency communication system is utilized to determine if the information on the individual hops has been degraded due to interference. By detecting bit errors in the received data sequence and identifying the frequencies on which signals representing the bits in error were transmitted, one can block out data from those frequencies on a dynamic basis. The received data sequence is correlated against the possible code words that might have been transmitted. The result of this correlation is a decision by the receiver that a particular code word was transmitted. Then, the code word that the receiver decides was transmitted is compared against the received data sequence and bit errors are identified. Finally, by knowing the relationship between the transmission frequencies and the order of the received bits, the receiver can identify the frequencies on which signals representing the bits in error were transmitted.
