  • Patent number: 5309006
Abstract: An FET crossbar switch device is implemented by using a split gate electrode and a shared source and drain pad to implement source and drain electrodes on an integrated circuit substrate. First and second inputs to the device are associated with first and second transmission lines, each of which is directly connected to a first and second source electrode areas. Disposed between the source electrode areas are respective drain electrode sections, each of which is coupled to an associated output transmission line. The input and output transmission lines are fabricated directly on the integrated circuit substrate. Gate fingers or electrodes are directed between respective drain electrodes and adjacent source electrodes. By properly biasing the gate electrodes, one can direct the first input to the first output with the second input directed to the second output. In a second state the first input can be connected to the second output with the second input disconnected or connected to the first output.

  • Patent number: 5306884
Abstract: The present invention is a knob which attaches to the switch post of a push/pull switch. The knob selectively disengages from the switch post as the knob is inadvertently impacted, thereby isolating the push/pull switch from the impacting force. The knob moves independently of the switch post and contacts the housing supporting the switch. Consequently, the force of impact is directed to the housing through the body of the knob and very little force is directed to the switch.

  • Patent number: 5303983
Abstract: A track assembly for a vehicle includes an upper track slidably mounted in a lower track. A seat belt buckle mounting bracket is attached to the upper track and connects a fixed seat belt to the upper track. The seat belt buckle mounting bracket includes first and second angularly disposed legs, with the first leg attached to the upper track and the second leg attached to a fixed seat belt buckle. The seat belt buckle mounting bracket is stationarily mounted in a first, normal operating position in which the second leg of the bracket extends upward from a side wall of the upper track, but rotates from the first position under a force applied through the fixed seat belt to a second position in which the second leg of the bracket is substantially aligned with the longitudinal axis of the upper track to place the first and second legs of the bracket in tension with the applied force. The second position provides a strong geometry position for the seat belt buckle mounting bracket.

  • Patent number: 5305421
Abstract: A speech coder apparatus operates to compress speech signals to a low bit rate. The apparatus includes a continuous speech recognizer (CSR) which has a memory for storing templates. Input speech is processed by the CSR where information in the speech is compared against the templates to provide an output digital signal indicative of recognized words, which signal is transmitted along a first path. There is further included a front end processor which is also responsive to the input speech signal for providing output digitized speech samples during a given frame interval. A side information encoder circuit responds to the output from the front end processor to provide at the output of the encoder a parameter signal indicative of the value of the pitch and word duration for each word as recognized by the CSR unit. The output of the encoder is transmitted as a second signal.

  • Patent number: 5305400
Abstract: The video data of an image sequence are encoded and decoded section by section, with each nth key frame data field being transmitted as completely as possible. From two adjacent key frame data fields, n-1 phantom image data fields are calculated at the transmitting and receiving ends taking into account n-1 motion fields. Further, n-1 difference image data fields are determined at the transmitting end and transmitted together with the key frame data fields. At the receiving end, the original sequence of data fields is reconstructed from the transmitted data fields by recalculation of the motion fields.

  • Patent number: 5294985
Abstract: A limiter circuit responds to an input signal which has a plurality of frequencies within a given band. The input signal is split up into two frequency ranges by means of a low pass filter for one range and a high pass filter for a second range. The output of the low pass filter is directed to a first limiter while the output of the high pass filter is directed to a variable notch filter. The outputs from the first limiter and the notch filter are added together to provide a sum signal. The sum signal is applied to a second limiter which performs limiting strictly according to the amplitude. The outputs of the second limiter signal provide the desired signal and a control signal to determine how often the second limiter is limiting. The control signal varies the attenuation of the notch filter. In this manner frequencies, within a selective range and which will be otherwise effected by the spurious frequencies generated during limiting, are reduced.

  • Patent number: 5288242
Abstract: A connector is described, which can be inserted into a hole in a base to securely mount therein while enabling removal and secure reinstallation. The base (14, FIG. 3) has a hole with an undercut groove (30). A connector mount portion (24) has a recess (42) that holds a snap ring (26). The snap ring has a gap that allows the snap ring to contract during insertion, and to then expand to lock into the groove in the base. An elastomeric spring ring (50) lies between the bottom of the recess in the mount portion and the radially inner surface of the snap ring, to prevent the snap ring from falling off prior to installation of the connector. The spring ring is readily compressed (at 50 in FIG. 8) when the snap ring is compressed during installation. A pair of contacts of the connector include vertical and horizontal portions (100, 102, FIG. 3) connected by a middle portion (110) that is bent at a right angle.
