    Abstract: A triode having a coaxially positioned cathode and grid or gate electrode positioned within an evacuated tubular anode. The cathode has a plurality of emitting points radially disposed on its outer surface. The emitting points are surrounded by a plurality of grid or gate electrodes controlling the conducted beam current between the inner cathode and the surrounding anode. The gain and power of the triode is only limited by the number of emitter points and the number of grid or gate electrodes positioned within the anode. Since the anode envelopes the cathode and grid electrode, the anode can be used as a waveguide or antenna launch without the need of RF coupling connectors.

    Abstract: A speaker recognition apparatus employs a non-parametric baseline algorithm for speaker recognition which characterizes a given speaker's speech patterns by a set of speech feature vectors, and generates match scores which are sums of a ScoreA set equal to the average of the minimum Euclidean squared distance between the unknown speech frame and all reference frames of a given speaker over all frames of the unknown input, and ScoreB set equal to the average of the minimum Euclidean squared distance between each frame of the reference set to all frames of the unknown input. The performance on a queue of talkers is further improved by normalization of reference message match distances. The improved baseline algorithm addresses the co-channel problem of speaker spotting when plural speech signals are intermixed on the same channel by using a union of reference sets for pairs of speakers as the reference set for a co-channel signal, and/or by conversational state modelling.

    Abstract: An external compass module for use with a night vision device. The module includes an annular ring which is adapted to fit a portion of the night vision device which contains the objective lens. The module further includes an enclosure having an internal chamber. A compass sensor having an angular scale for indicating direction is positioned within the chamber. Optical elements are positioned adjacent to the scale which relay and collimate an image of the scale to a reflecting lens element. The reflecting lens element then reflects the scale image toward the objective lens which results in the superimposition of the scale image on a scene being viewed by the user.

    Abstract: Simple, narrow bands are secured to a generally planar platform, and joined together, above the platform, by a tether-attaching bolt. The bolt mounts a lifting eye for a hook and tethering cable. One of the bands and the platform, receive mixer-mounting bolts for replaceably fixing the mixer on the platform. To inhibit unwanted migration of the apparatus across the bottom of a liquid-confining tank or reservoir, the platform has pointed-end feet depending therefrom, and removable weights are set atop the bands, whereat the latter are joined together.

    Abstract: Strips of polytetrafluoroethylene (i.e., Teflon) are interposed, equally spaced apart, between the journal and sleeve, and journal and collar of a bearing assembly to provide lubrication thereat. The Teflon strips are fibrous and porous, and compressibly collapsible therefor, to insure that thermal expansion of any one thereof will not unduly load the bearing assembly. The bearing material has surface voids in which to trap and retain the Teflon which is wiped onto the contact surfaces.

    Abstract: The present invention is a device and method for masking a predetermined area on a surface during sputter deposition. The present invention includes a plurality of alignment arms that extend above the surface to be sputter coated and terminate above the periphery of the area to be masked. A masking member is formed to have a profile that exactly matches the area to be masked. The alignment arms prevent the masking member from contacting the surface to be sputter coated until the masking member is properly oriented and aligned above the area to be masked. The masking member then passes through the alignment arms, masking the desired area, while the alignment arms prevent the masking member from moving away from the desired masked area.

    Abstract: A circuit and method automatically compensate a monolithic integrated Hall sensor having a Hall element therein, wherein a device for generating operating currents is technologically and thermally tightly coupled with the Hall element. The production-induced and temperature-induced variations in the sensitivity of the Hall element are compensated for by a defined control of the supply current and the offset current. For the control, the thermal and technological parameters of the Hall element semiconductor region or equivalent regions in corresponding circuits are used. For this purpose, at least two current sources are provided which generate at least two auxiliary currents with different temperature dependences. By means of adding/subtracting devices, resultant currents with other temperature dependences are formed from the auxiliary currents by summation/subtraction and different weighting.
