  • Patent number: 6012783
Abstract: Process for temperature-dependent actuation of a supplemental pressure medium source in slippage-controlled motor vehicle braking systems. The invention pertains to a process for operating a slippage-controlled motor vehicle braking system with regulation of driving dynamics. In such systems it has thus far been proposed to turn on supplemental pressure medium sources to support the supply pump when regulation starts, in order to shorten the regulation time. Practical studies have shown that such supplemental sources are, first of all, not needed for each regulation process and, second, cause disruptive noise. The invention thus proposes to turn on the supplemental pressure medium source only in the presence of special situations, such as if the pressure medium is very viscous due to low temperatures. Advantageous refinements are concerned with determination of the temperature.

  • Patent number: 6012010
Abstract: To improve the control behavior of an anti-lock control system or brake slip control system, more particularly, to improve the steerability of a vehicle and its drivability when braking during cornering is performed, criteria for cornering identification and for determining the direction of cornering are derived from the wheel slip of the individual wheels. When cornering is identified, the normal control mode which is intended for straight travel and is configured for an individual control of all wheels or an individual control of the front wheels in conjunction with a select-low control of the rear wheels is changed to a cornering control mode. In the cornering control mode, the average pressure level of the curve-inward front wheel is decreased by a predetermined value and the average pressure level of the curve-outward front wheel is increased by a predetermined value.

  • Patent number: 6008457
Abstract: A steering column switch has a spiral spring which produces a rotatable contact between terminals that are rigidly arranged on the housing of the steering column switch and terminals on the rotatable steering wheel. The receptacle for the spiral spring is attained by integrally forming an open receptacle onto the switch housing, with said receptacle being closed by a cover that can be turned relative to the housing. Consequently, the spiral spring is integrated into the switch housing such that a separate spring housing is eliminated. Advantageous additional developments of the invention pertain to an additional locking part that rotationally locks the cover relative to the switch housing while the switch is stored. The locking part also makes it possible to turn the cover only relative to the switch housing once the steering wheel is attached to the steering column.

  • Patent number: 6006648
Abstract: To extend the control range of the pressure control in a brake system which is equipped with a brake power booster that is operable irrespective of the driver's wish, preferably electromagnetically, according to the present invention, the hydraulic pressure introduced into a master brake cylinder connected downstream of the brake power booster is determined and, following a comparison with a preset pressure value signal, is sent to a pressure controller having an output quantity which corresponds to a control current for the solenoid and is supplied to a limiter that determines the limit values of the desired control range, and the output quantity of the limiter is compared with the value of the current supplied to the solenoid. Subsequently, the comparison result is sent to a current controller which generates the voltage to be applied to the solenoid.
