The diaphragm is formed with one or both of an annular rib (5e) having a thick-walled section and an annular expansive portion (5d) having a curved section. Therefore, the diaphragm is hard to be disengaged from the diaphragm plate even if an immoderate force is applied on the diaphragm.

A pair of valves attached to a disc member having an arcuate slot is disposed in the valve chest so as to alternately block ducts communicating with washer nozzles disposed on opposite sides of the wiper arm according to the engagement of opposite ends of the arcuate slot of the disc member with a contact piece on the base member every time the wiper blade arrives at the lower and the upper turning positions.

    Abstract: A constant-speed cruising control system for vehicles comprises a car-speed sensor, a command switch group, a car-speed memory, an actuator for driving a throttle, and a control mechanism which has a cruising control function, a resuming control function after cancelling the cruising control and controls the vehicle speed so as to coincide with a reset cruising speed stored in reponse to a reset operation during the resuming control by driving the throttle in the decelerative direction of the vehicle for the time given by subtracting set initialize time from the sum total of time the throttle is controlled in the accelerative direction of the vehicle during the time from the operation of the resume switch till the reset operation. It is possible to solve the undershooting of the vehicle speed at the transitional time from the acceleration state to the cruising state at the constant-speed.

    Abstract: A jet pump structure for a fuel tank having first and second chambers therein includes first, second and third fuel pipes all of which are connected to a vacuum chamber provided within the fuel tank. The first pipe returns oversupplied fuel into the vacuum chamber, the second pipe transfers fuel stored in the first chamber into the vacuum chamber, and the third pipe receives the fuel from the first and second pipes and discharge same into the second chamber. A flow guide member is provided within the first pipe, which receives the oversupplied fuel to form same into a swirl flow. The swirl flow is ejected from the first pipe as a jet flow into the vacuum chamber to provide a vacuum therearound within the vacuum chamber. The ejected swirl flow further works to seal the vacuum chamber against the third pipe so that the vacuum generated within the vacuum chamber is prevented from being released through the third pipe to effectively suck the fuel from the first chamber.

The wiper control system resets the measured elapsed time when ever the wiper blade assembly reaches a predetermined position. On the other hand, wiper control system detects the measured elapsed time exceeding a given period of time to initiate a predetermined fail-safe operation. In practice, the fail-safe operation is performed to intermittently drive the wiper motor with an interval which is long enough to sufficiently cooling off the wiper motor, when fail-safe operation is performed while wiper system is maintained ON, and to terminate driving of the wiper motor when the wiper system is turned OFF.
