  • Patent number: 9067279
Abstract: The apparatus for joint sealing using tube expansion and friction welding includes a friction welding apparatus including a clamping assembly and a tube expansion apparatus. A tube having a beveled edge is inserted into an aperture in a tube sheet. The tube expansion apparatus expands the end of the tube with the beveled edge to swage the tube to the sheet. A tube sleeve having an edge beveled at an angle complementary to the beveled edge of the tube is clamped to the spindle of the friction welding apparatus. The tube sleeve is abutted to the beveled edge of the tube with the application of pressure and the spindle is rotated or oscillated to friction weld the tube sleeve to the tube and the tube sheet, forming a sealed joint. The process may be repeated to form a heat exchanger tube assembly having sealed joints.

  • Publication number: 20150144556
Abstract: The antiscalant compound is a dianionic polyelectrolyte (DAPE), namely, poly[disodium 3-(N,N-diallylamino)propanephosphonate]. The cationic polyelectrolyte (CPE) polydiallyl(diethylphosphonato)propylammonium chloride is synthesized by cyclopolymerization of the monomer. The CPE contains a pendant having a three-carbon spacer separating the diethylphosphonate and NH+. Upon acidic hydrolysis of the phosphonate esters, the CPE was converted into a pH-responsive polyzwitterionic acid (PZA), poly[3-(N,N-diallylammonio)propanephosphonic acid], which was converted to DAPE poly[disodium 3-(N,N-diallylamino)propanephosphonate] and to a zwitterionic/anionic polyelectrolyte (ZAPE) poly[sodium 3-(N,N-diallylammonio)propanephosphonate]. The solution properties of the polymers were correlated to the structurally similar polyzwitterion (PZ) having monoethylphosphonate and NH+ groups.

  • Patent number: 9019014
Abstract: The programmable multi-gain current amplifier circuitry includes a pair of MOS transistors setting the voltage at X terminal to zero using negative feedback formed by a third MOS transistor. Input resistance is in the range of few tens of ohms. The input current ix, which is forced by the constant currents of the circuitry, is conveyed to the output port Z by source-coupling a complementary output pair of MOS transistors. Since this coupled pair is biased with a constant tail current, the drain current changes are equal but with opposite sign, regardless of their matching resulting in negative type CA with unity gain (iz=ix). Programmability is achieved utilizing the output stages. When a second differential pair is connected in parallel, it provides two additional current outputs. With the two differential pairs being biased with different tail currents (IT1 and IT2), the outputs are programmed by adjusting these tail currents.
