  • Patent number: 5662043
Abstract: A plurality of inking blade plates are positioned in abutting fashion between cooperating insertion and clamping strips to form an inking blade. A temperature differential is created between the blade plates and the strips which are then allowed to return to a common temperature. This creates a uniform spacing between each of the inking blade plates in the inking blade. The resulting inking blade is usable with an ink ductor roller in a rotary printing press.

  • Patent number: 5653169
Abstract: A rubber blanket cylinder for offset printing utilizes a cylinder body that has magnetic strips to retain a rubber blanket packing comprised of a rubber blanket and a ferromagnetic rubber blanket support. A fastening strip is positioned on the circumference of the cylinder body and extends axially along the cylinder. The rubber blanket packing is prevented from wandering or shifting by the fastening strip. A free end of the fastening strip is covered by the rubber blanket which is thus fastened on the cylinder body in an essentially gap-free manner.

  • Patent number: 5642664
Abstract: A holding device for a chamber doctor blade utilizes spaced holders which support the base body of the chamber doctor blade for sliding movement toward or away from a screen roller. This sliding movement is accomplished by spring forces exerted through a spring loaded pressure element and a pressure cam which oppose each other. The pressure cam can be shifted by an adjusting device through a spring biased tappet.

  • Patent number: 5640908
Abstract: A method and apparatus that uses chain delivery system to deliver printed sheets to one of two sheet stacks is disclosed. The sheets are grasped by chain gripper systems and are transported along an upper chain strand. A transfer cylinder is positioned in the path of sheet travel between the two sheet stacks. Sheets destined for the second sheet stack are removed from the upper chain strand by the transfer cylinder and delivered to the second sheet stack by a lower chain strand.

  • Patent number: 5628250
Abstract: A chamber doctor blade assembly includes axially spaced lateral cheeks that seal the ends of the ink reservoir. Each of these lateral cheeks has a sealing face that conforms to the curvature of the screen roller with which the chamber doctor blade is used. These sealing faces are provided with lubricant reservoirs. The lateral faces also have leading edges bent or flared out to form strippers which remove excess beads of ink from the screen roller.

  • Patent number: 5591921
Abstract: Bending movement of a cylinder in a rotary printing press is measured by using a bending rod that is connected to the cylinder journal at one end and to a lateral register adjustment device at its other end. The bending rod is acted on by the bending forces applied to the cylinder and carries strain gauges that detect the bending of the bending rod. A double jointed coupling is used to connect the lateral register adjusting device to the cylinder journal. The bending rod is situated within this double jointed coupling.
