  • Patent number: 5010759
Abstract: A wheel shaping apparatus including a single cotter for expanding first and second dies circumferentially split into a plurality of first and second die elements, respectively. The single cotter is supported by a cotter supporting member at one end portion of the cotter and is also supported by a cotter guide at the other end portion of the cotter during shaping of a rim element. Because of the single cotter supported at both end portions thereof, rim bead seat portions located at axially end portions of the rim element are shaped in an accurate alignment with each other and almost exactly parallel to each other. In the case when ring-like members are provided around the first and second dies or when teeth are formed at sides of each first and second die element, formation of local deformations at gaps between two adjacent first die elements and between two adjacent second die elements is suppressed.

  • Patent number: 5010862
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for controlling the quantity of intake air supplied to an internal combustion engine, in which the position of a valve member of a flow control valve having a non-linear valve opening characteristic is converted into an intake air quantity or a virtual valve position proportional to the intake air quantity so as to linearize the non-linear valve opening characteristic of the flow control valve. Application of the method of the present invention to an idle speed control device in an engine equipped with an electronic controlled fuel injection system is advantageous in that the quantity of intake air supplied to the engine can be accurately controlled under various operating conditions of the engine, therely preventing rotation of the engine at an excessively high speed and stalling of the engine, improving the fuel consumption and reducing noise generated from the engine.

  • Patent number: 5011590
Abstract: A temperature control device for an oxygen concentration sensor having a solid electrolytic member having oxygen ion-conductivity, a gas diffusion-limiting zone defined by the solid electrolytic member and into which is introduced a gas the concentration of which is to be examined, and a couple of electrodes between which the solid electrolytic member is interposed. Pumping current is supplied to the solid electrolytic member and flows therein between the electrodes to cause an oxygen ion flow in the solid electrolytic member between the electrodes to vary the concentration of oxygen present within the gas diffusion-limiting zone. The pumping current is varied in response to the concentration of oxygen within the gas diffusion-limiting zone, whereby the concentration oxygen in the gas is detected from the pumping current value.
