  • Publication number: 20030209925
Abstract: A furniture construction includes a frame structure made up of a pair of spaced frame sections connected together, and a furniture component mounted to the frame structure. Each frame section includes a lower base section, an upright, and a furniture component support member extending from the upright and to which the furniture component is mounted. The frame sections are preferably C-shaped when viewed from the side. In one form, the furniture component is a seat mounted to the furniture component support, and the frame structure includes a back support area extending upwardly from the seat. A back is mounted to the back support area. In another form, the furniture component is a desk or table top mounted to the furniture component support. Combination desk/chair units may also be constructed utilizing the same basic frame structure.

  • Patent number: 6644221
Abstract: A folding sectional table assembly includes a pair of table sections, each of which includes a frame assembly and a table top. Each frame assembly includes inner and outer leg assemblies, and each leg assembly has an upper tubular member pivotably mounted at its ends relative to a pair of apron members secured to the underside of the table top, for providing pivoting movement of the leg assembly relative to the table top. A latch arrangement selectively maintains the table sections in the folded, storage position, and includes a latch member pivotably mounted to one of the table sections and a catch member stationarily mounted to the other of the table sections. A latch actuator is interconnected between the latch member and the apron members, for disengaging the latch member from the catch member when it is desired to move the table sections away from the folded, storage position.

  • Patent number: 6571519
Abstract: A space dividing system includes a column and a series of partition panels adapted for interconnection with the column. The column includes an internal passage, and is adapted to receive wiring from a building for supplying power to a receptacle arrangement interconnected with the column. Adjacent panels are connected to the column at spaced locations, and the receptacle arrangement is exposed between the adjacent panels. The column includes a structural skeleton to which the receptacle arrangement is mounted, and a series of covers are releasably engaged with the structural skeleton for finishing the aesthetic appearance of the column. An adjustable height mounting arrangement is interconnected with the upper end of the column for connection to a ceiling to stabilize the upper end of the column. Each panel is in the form of a frame defining an opening within which a core is received.

Each frame assembly includes inner and outer leg assemblies, and each leg assembly has an upper tubular member pivotably mounted at its ends relative to a pair of apron members secured to the underside of the table top, for providing pivoting movement of the leg assembly relative to the table top. A torsion bar assist mechanism is disposed within selected ones of the upper tubular members of the leg assemblies, and includes a torsion bar located within an internal passage defined by the upper tubular member. At one end, the torsion bar is engaged with a torsion bar retainer mounted to a hub arrangement which also functions to pivotably mount one end of the upper tubular member.

  • Patent number: 6460932
Abstract: An adjustable armrest assembly for a chair provides adjustment in both the vertical and horizontal position of an armrest member. A tubular member is adapted for telescopic mounting to an upwardly extending support member mounted to the chair. The support member includes a series of spaced teeth defining indentations therebetween. The armrest assembly includes a pivotable latch member which is secured to the tubular member utilizing a cap member mounted to the upper end of a passage defined by the tubular member. The cap member and the tubular member define cooperating mounting structure for providing pivoting movement of the latch member. The latch member is movable between an engaged position, in which the latch member is engaged with an indentation between the teeth defined by the support member, and a disengaged position in which the latch member is moved out of engagement with the teeth.
