Abstract: A student desk includes a base that supports a seat and a worksurface. The base includes transverse front and rear base members, with a central base member extending therebetween. A worksurface support and a seat support are mounted to and extend upwardly from the base, and the worksurface and seat are mounted to the worksurface and seat supports, respectively, so as to be adjustable in elevation. Casters are mounted to the front and rear transverse base members to facilitate movement of the desk on a support surface such as a floor. Certain of the casters may be constructed so as to lock in position when the desk is occupied. The seat includes a handle area, so that the desk can be quickly and easily repositioned in a classroom with minimal effort.

Abstract: An article of seating furniture includes a base, a seat and a back. The back includes a reclining mechanism. The seat is interconnected with the reclining mechanism such that reclining movement of the back moves the seat forwardly and upwardly. When the back is fully reclined and the seat is fully raised, an upper surface of the seat is coplanar with an upper surface of the back. A footrest is movable between a retracted position and an extended position. When extended, the footrest is generally coplanar with the seat. The back includes a spine having a lower end pivotably interconnected with the base. The spine includes a seat mounting extension to which the seat is pivotably mounted. Mounting links between the seat and the base provide movement of the seat when the back is reclined.

Abstract: An article of furniture (22) having an opening (62) is configured with a support (20) operable to serve as a glide and as a floor surface protector. The support includes a body (40) having a boss (45) with a plurality of collapsible mounting boss sections (65). The boss sections define an axial passage (80, 90) therebetween and extending through the body. When inserted into the opening in the article of furniture, the edge defining the opening moves the boss sections radially inward relative to the edge of the opening toward a collapsed condition. The support further includes a wedge configured to be driven by an applied force into the passage of the body. The driven wedge is configured to move the boss sections apart against the edge of the opening to secure the body member to the article of furniture.

Abstract: A table or desk assembly (20) includes a base having a pair of legs (24), a worksurface (22) supported by and between the pair of legs, and a rapid, counterbalanced height adjustment mechanism interposed between the legs and the worksurface for providing adjustment in the elevation of the worksurface. The height adjustment mechanism includes a pair of high lead rotatable threaded rods (32) engaged with a mating stationary threaded member (33) associated with each leg. A handle (36) is engageable with one of the threaded rods for imparting rotation to the threaded rod, and a synchronizing arrangement, such as a sprocket (38) and chain system (40), is interconnected with the other of the threaded rods for rotating the threaded rods together. A lift assist or counterbalancing mechanism applies an upward bias, such as to the worksurface, to counteract the weight of the worksurface and any loads supported by the worksurface.

Abstract: A protective shroud for a swing arm includes a housing made of two shroud sections that are snapped together around the base of a fixed seating arrangement. The assembled shroud includes two rectangular openings on its sides configured to allow the swing arms of the fixed seating arrangement to pivot on their axes within the shroud. The rectangular openings also include grooves on their upper and lower edges configured to receive a slidable rectangular shield member with a circular opening in its center. The rectangular shields fit over the opposed swing arms and slide within the grooves in the shroud halves as the swing arms pivot, thereby restricting access to the pinch points of the swing arms.

Abstract: A desk system with power and/or communication capability includes a series of interconnected desk sections. Each desk section includes a pair of leg that support a worksurface, and one or more stanchions extend upwardly from the worksurface. A primary power distribution system is located below the worksurface. The primary power distribution system includes receptacles mounted to a beam that extends between the pair of legs. Openings are formed in the legs for enabling the primary power distribution system to pass from one desk section to another. Each stanchion defines an open interior and is mounted above an opening formed in the worksurface. Each stanchion includes a mounting plate, and one or more power and/or communication supply blocks are adapted for securement to the mounting plate. Flexible cords or cables extend from each mounting block through the opening in the worksurface, and are plugged into the receptacles or the primary power distribution system located below the worksurface.

Abstract: A table or desk includes a wire management arrangement located below a worksurface, and a support including a foot for engaging a supporting surface such as a floor. A leg is mounted to and extends upwardly from the foot, and the worksurface is mounted to a worksurface support at the upper end of the leg. A wire cover is releasably engageable with the leg, and defines an internal passage within which wiring is received. The wire cover faces an exterior surface of the leg, and is releasably engaged with the leg via a clip secured to the leg. The foot defines an opening which receives a lower end of the wire cover. The internal passage of the wire cover establishes communication with an internal area of the wire management arrangement, to enable wires to be routed upwardly into the internal area of the wire management arrangement from the foot.

Abstract: A latch-type tile mounting system for mounting a tile to the frame of a wall panel. An outwardly extending hook is engaged with the wall panel frame, and includes an outer hook portion. The tile includes a receiver within which the outer hook portion of the hook member is received, and blocking structure that prevents engagement with the outer hook portion. A latch member is movably mounted to the tile over the receiver, and is movable between an open or unlocked position for enabling the outer hook portion to be moved into and out of engagement with the receiver, and a closed or locked position in which the latch member engages the outer hook portion to secure the tile to the frame. The latch member is pivotably movable between its locked and unlocked positions, preferably via a fastener that secures the latch member to the tile.

Abstract: A lectern incorporating a support member having a recess that can receive a control panel or laptop or notebook computer, for use with the by a speaker or other presenter. The support member defines an interior, and includes a keyboard tray slidably received within the interior and connectable to the monitor or computer positioned within the recess such that an individual can enter information directly from the keyboard into the device positioned within the recess. The lectern also includes a pair of sliding panels that can be used to cover or expose the device positioned within the recess. The lectern further includes a vertical adjustment mechanism for raising or lowering the height of the lectern as necessary.
