    Abstract: A lime material and a siliceous material containing 10 to 40% by weight of alumina are admixed with an alkali solution, and the mixture is subjected to hydrothermal reaction with saturated water vapor at 4 to 40 kg/cm.sup.2 to form tobermorite. The reaction mixture is filtered to separate the tobermorite therefrom. A lime material and a gypsum material are added to the resulting filtrate, and the mixture is reacted at room temperature to a temperature of 90.degree. C. to form ettringite. The alkali filtrate separated from the ettringite is reused for the production of tobermorite.

    Abstract: A fuel injection rate limiting device for diesel engine aimed at improving engine performance on starting as well as in operation under overload through impartation of an increased tenacity, wherein a limiter means is provided to check a governor lever to thereby limit the fuel injection rate under the full-load condition but at the same time the governor lever is allowed to continue shifting within reason and gradually against a torque spring in such direction as to increase the fuel injection rate so that the fuel injection rate is gradually increased as the engine speed (rpm.) falls under overload. Moreover, on starting of the engine, the governor lever is caused to shift extensively against the torque spring as well as the starting spring in the fuel injection rate increasing direction for improvement of the engine's starting performance.

An oxygen containing gas is supplied to the downward flow chamber and waste water and return sludge are supplied to a given position or elevation of the upward flow chamber to be mixed with a mixed liquor flowing through the upward flow chamber, whereby a reduction zone with a low concentration of dissolved oxygen is formed at the upper portion of the upward flow chamber. Because the stopper is thus shaped, the joint is easy to assemble and manufacture.

    Abstract: An apparatus for heat-treating pipes comprising a furnace chamber for accommodating a plurality of pipes as arranged in parallel, a chain conveyor disposed in the furnace chamber for transporting the pipes in a direction at right angles to the axes of the pipes, and a plurality of stopper means for stopping the pipes intermittently at suitably spaced-apart positions in the path of transport by the chain conveyor and causing each of the pipes to rotate about its own axis in cooperation with the chain conveyor. Since the pipe is intermittently stopped and rotated about its own axis during heat treatment, the pipe is free of thermal deformation to an elliptical shape. Pipes can be heat-treated in succession in a small space, therefore with a very high efficiency. The motion of the chain conveyor is utilized for rotating the pipe without necessitating any additional device for the rotation.

    Abstract: A sludge treating apparatus comprises a centrifugal condensing machine for forcedly condensing a raw sludge produced by a waste water treating apparatus. The raw sludge condensed to approximately 94 to 90% in terms of the percentage of moisture content by means of the centrifugal condensing machine is introduced into an anaerobic digestion tank of a deep well type, where the raw sludge undergoes an anaerobic digestion, and a digested sludge obtained from the anaerobic digestion tank is then dewatered by means of a dewatering apparatus such as a belt press, whereupon the dewatered sludge is applied to a post-treatment apparatus. In execution of the anaerobic digestion process, the reactions corresponding to an acid fermentation stage and acid regression stage may be carried out in advance in separate tanks and the reaction corresponding to an alkaline fermentation stage may be mainly performed in an anaerobic digestion tank.
