  • Patent number: 4556113
Abstract: Cultivating tines, each having opposite cutting edges, are pivotably supported by tine mount members on a tine shaft reversibly rotatable about a horizontal lateral axis. One of the cutting edges of the tine is retainable in a position rearward with respect to the direction of forward rotation, while the other cutting edge is retainable in a position rearward with respect to the direction of reverse rotation. When held in each of these positions, the tine is restrained by resistant force imparting means from being pivotally moved by a centrifugal force. The resistant force to be imparted by this means is smaller than the reaction to be produced when the tine is driven into the soil.

  • Patent number: 4555948
Abstract: A method of ultrasonic flaw detection of a pipe comprises comparing ultrasonic waves passing through a test piece portion with the arithmetic means of ultrasonic waves passing through portions adjacent each side of the test portion. The comparison is made around the entire periphery of a pipe, for example, an austenic heat resisting cast steel pipe used as a hydrogen manufacturing reformer tube. This method is free from adverse influence of macrostructures unevenly distributed in the peripheral direction of the pipe, and enables a quantitative grasp of flaws in a base material and a weld of the pipe.

  • Patent number: 4548027
Abstract: There is disclosed a combine harvester in which a traveling change speed mechanism is automatically controlled in response to workload variations in order to maintain the workload within a predetermined range. In normal circumstances, controls are effected on the basis of an average value of deviations from a control target value of values of the load sampled a predetermined number of times. A change speed operation is immediately effected in an amount corresponding to the deviations when a difference between a value of variation of the sampled values from sampled values obtained a previous time from sampled values obtained earlier is greater than a predetermined value.

  • Patent number: 4543079
Abstract: In a wrapping connector driving apparatus for agricultural machines including a chain reeved around sprocket wheels on two shafts, a tension adjusting device is provided on the slack side of the chain. A tightener bearing against the chain tensions the chain. A piston slidably fitting in an oil enclosing cylinder is pressed against the tightener by a resilient member. An abnormal load, when acting on the chain, is absorbed by the resilient member and the oil enclosed in the cylinder, which is provided with a passageway for releasing the increased internal pressure due to the abnormal load. When relieved of the load, the cylinder can be supplied with oil by way of a check valve. The tension on the chain is thus automatically adjustable.
