  • Patent number: 4265921
Abstract: Quick-freezing of food products in liquid or paste form is achieved by mixing the food with an excess of carbon dioxide snow. A finely divided carbon dioxide snow bed is formed in situ by stirring and then there is brought into contact with the resultant bed of carbon dioxide snow particles the food product in a paste or liquid state, divided on contact with the snow, until the granules of the food product are formed. The process can be used in various apparatus and is applicable in the industrial food field and for making of products intended for home consumption.

  • Patent number: 4253113
Abstract: This apparatus comprises a device for illuminating in a permanent manner a zone in which the band travels, a television camera having a high luminous sensitivity and a low remanence controlled for exposure during constant periods of time which are short relative to the speed of travel of the band with a frequency of recurrence which is substantially equal to the speed of the band divided by the length of said zone in the direction of travel of the band. In this way, said successive images detected constitute a substantially continuous representation of the band. An electronic circuit is provided for analysing the images received by the camera.

  • Patent number: 4249494
Abstract: In an internal combustion engine ignition system having a knock sensor to back-off the ignition advance at the onset of pre-ignition knocking in the engine, the sensor is activated only during a fraction of the power stroke of each piston and the activation is achieved by processing of the ignition triggering signal rather than by incorporation of position sensors on the drive shaft of the engine/gearbox combination. The signal-processing device includes first stage means to generate a signal which is shifted by a constant time relative to the signal which it receives, and second stage means which generates a signal which is shifted relative to the incoming signal by a time corresponding to a constant angle of rotation of the engine (to take into account engine rotation speed) and these stages define the beginning and the end of the periodic signal required for control of the vibration sensor.

  • Patent number: 4236058
Abstract: A method of and apparatus for regulating an electron-beam welding generator of the kind having three electrodes viz: a cathode, a Wehnelt electrode and an anode. The method is characterized by a suitable combination of two methods of regulating an electron beam welding gun. One of these methods includes varying and regulating the very high voltage while maintaining the voltage applied to the Wehnelt electrode at the potential of the cathode (operation of the "diode" kind). The other method includes holding the very high voltage constant while regulating or programming the welding current by means of the voltage to the Wehnelt electrode (operation of the "triode" kind). The variations in and regulation of the very high voltage are controlled by an induction regulator associated with a thyristorized regulator.

  • Patent number: 4236094
Abstract: A magnetic interrupter type transducer for providing an ignition signal with alternating peaks and varying progressively between the peaks. The shape of the signal is a function of the configuration of the opposed surfaces between a rotor and an adjacent pole tip of a magnetic circuit which generates the ignition signal by electromagnetic induction. The variation in volume of the air gap produced during rotation of the rotor provides the signal of the desired characteristics.

  • Patent number: 4223720
Abstract: An air conditioning device for an automobile vehicle includes the provision for automatic proportional control of the air conditioning function and also a priority function such as vehicle windscreen demisting or defrosting. Economy of pneumatic power is achieved by providing, with a double threshold control system, a signal for operating pneumatic flow distributors in the driving fluid lines to pneumatic jacks driving the control elements of the air conditioning device by means of an electrical signal which is capable of being either continuous or discontinuous in which latter state the flow distributor to which the discontinuous signal is applied is caused to oscillate to achieve an intermediate pneumatic pressure between pressure values corresponding to fully open and fully closed positions of the air conditioning control elements to be manipulated.
