Abstract: A cradle can be used to capture video of an object, such as hair. That video can then be used to extract and visualize color information relating to that material using a colorcloud. The colorcloud contains all the colors that were present in one or more frames of the video. The cradle comprises a video recording device that is able to see the material through a window on the cradle. A smartphone can be used with the cradle to act as the video recording device, as well as provide lighting.

Abstract: A composition is provided. The composition is a water-in-oil emulsion comprising an aqueous phase and an oil phase. The aqueous phase comprises water, one or more humectants, one or more preservatives, one or more preservative boosters, one or more stabilizers and/or one or more pH adjusters. The oil phase comprises one or more solvents, one or more emulsifiers, one or more emollients and/or one or more aesthetic modifiers. Methods of preparing the composition and methods of improving the appearance of skin are also provided.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to methods for treating hair with lactones. The lactones form a covalent thio-ester bond with free thiols groups on chemically treated hair, and thereby impart a “repairing” or “conditioning” effect to the hair, for example, by making the hair more hydrophobic. Typically, after hair has been treated with a composition comprising one or more reducing agents that reduce disulfide bonds of hair to free thiols, a composition comprising one or more lactones is applied to the hair and the one or more lactones react with the free thiols to form a covalent thio-ester bond. Treatment with the lactones prevents reversion of the repaired bonds to their free thiol state after a single application.

Abstract: A cosmetic composition for make-up removal that provides aesthetically pleasing gliding application and is smudge resistant, the composition being provided in the form of a water-based micellar make-up removal composition that includes a blend of surfactants that includes one surfactant that has an HLB that is in the range from about 8 to about 16 and at least one surfactant that has an HLB that is greater than 16, and one or more powdered polysaccharides provided as essentially water-insoluble particles. In some embodiments the surfactant with an HLB greater than 16 is amphoteric. The composition can also include one or more of each or a combination of inorganic mineral powders, humectants, silicone-based defoaming agents, preservatives, and other cosmetically acceptable additives.

The cosmetic composition may include a (i) hydrogel dispersion in oil, the hydrogel having an ethylenic polymeric core, as well as (ii) a transfer-resistant film former, (iii) a hydrophilic active agent incorporated into the ethylenic polymeric core, or (iv) both (ii) and (iii). Abstract: The present invention relates to a composition for treating keratin fibers, preferably hair, comprising: (a) at least one direct dye; (b) at least one oil; (c) at least one polyol; and (d) water, wherein the amount of the (a) direct dye(s) in the composition is 0.01% by weight or more relative to the total weight of the composition, and the amount of the (b) oil(s) in the composition is 20% by weight or more, preferably 30% by weight or more, and more preferably 40% by weight or more, relative to the total weight of the composition, provided that the (b) oil comprises at least one silicone oil. The composition according to the present invention is stable and can be used for coloring keratin fibers, in particular for the maintenance of the color of the keratin fibers, while providing the keratin fibers with smoothness and alignment.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a cosmetic process for treating keratin materials, in particular keratin fibers, preferably human keratin fibers such as the hair, using a) one or more direct dyes which are preferably neutral and b) one or more particular aliphatic ammonium salts, and to a composition comprising ingredients a) and b). The cosmetic process for treating keratin materials of the invention makes it possible to obtain a good color build-up up and, furthermore, the colors are vivid and chromatic.

Abstract: Techniques are provided for computing systems, methods and computer program products to produce efficient image-to-image translation by adapting unpaired datasets for supervised learning. A first model (a powerful model) may be defined and conditioned using unsupervised learning to produce a synthetic paired dataset from the unpaired dataset, translating images from a first domain to a second domain and images from the second domain to the first domain. The synthetic data generated is useful as ground truths in supervised learning. The first model may be conditioned to overfit the unpaired dataset to enhance the quality of the paired dataset (e.g. the synthetic data generated). A run-time model such as for a target device is trained using the synthetic paired dataset and supervised learning. The run-time model is small and fast to meet the processing resources of the target device (e.g. a personal user device such as a smart phone, tablet, etc.
